Has Anyone had a worse offseason than the Saints? (1 Viewer)

Just so we're clear:

- Microfracture surgery for Reggie Bush and Marques Colston

- Lance Moore undergoes shoulder surgery

- Jeremy Shockey hospitalized with dehydration

- Deuce McAllister walks and no quality replacement in FA/draft (Not a huge issue because I do think Pierre Thomas has the goods to be a starter)

- Both starting DEs facing 4-game suspensions

Who compares with this? The Bills and their 23 offseason arrests?

THE COWBOYS losing TO and having their coach's back broken during a storm?

Denver firing Shanahan and hiring McDaniels/trading Cutler?

You do know those 5 players cheated and could have served the suspensions last year.

It seems to me the Broncos have had the worst offseason by far. They appear to have hired a 32 year old head coach in way over his head just because he had the "Patriot Pedigree". I wouldn't be surprised if they now finish 4th in the division.

NONE

and i mean

NONE

of the offseasons compare to what the falcons went through with the whole Vick saga... what people dont realise is that a lot of other stuff went down that offseason that is often not talked about

it was a terrible terrible time to be a fan

ummm...I believe the OP meant this year's offseason.

and if you're going with "recent history", the Saints still had the worst off season recently. New Orleans is cursed.

Most of us Saints fans have actually been very happy with this off-season.

Addressing your list:

- Microfracture surgery for Reggie Bush and Marques Colston

As much as everyone loves Reggie, honestly, if Reggie being hurt means Payton gives Reggie the ball less, and Pierre the ball more (which Saints fans have been screaming for the past two years), then we'll be just fine.

As far as Colston, yes, he's a vital part of this team. But all indications are that this surgery is not serious, and that he should be 100% for the season.

- Lance Moore undergoes shoulder surgery

I love Lance, I really do, but he's really nothing more than a solid receiver that was made a star by Drew Brees. All indications are that Meachem is looking stellar in camp. If he can finally put it together, we won't miss Lance Moore.

- Jeremy Shockey hospitalized with dehydration

No way to sugarcoat this one. I mean, the dude's fine and all, but it's one more headache in the Shockey saga. This trade looks worse and worse all the time.

- Deuce McAllister walks and no quality replacement in FA/draft (Not a huge issue because I do think Pierre Thomas has the goods to be a starter)

Deuce didn't "walk." We cut him, and he hasn't been picked up by anyone. Not a huge loss, even though he was once a great one. Pierre will be the man.

- Both starting DEs facing 4-game suspensions

Obviously whenever two of your starters are out, it's a bad thing. But Grant and Smith have been underperforming for so long, most fans' reaction to this has been "oh well, can't get much worse." Who knows, maybe this will give us a chance to see if we have other viable options at DE, or maybe light a fire under Grant and Smith.

On the other hand, the Saints have made many positive moves.

-fired the all but worthless Gary Gibbs, and hired Gregg Williams. That has the potential to make a world of difference on defense.

-improved our secondary with the signing of Jabari Greer, Darren Sharper, drafting Malcolm Jenkins, and with Tracy Porter (who was starting to look very promising last season) returning from injury

-re-signed Jonathan Vilma
