absolutely bulger is still a #1 QB... not only that, he is capable of being a very good one...
there isn't a lot of news at this point, obviously...
the latest i heard was the shoulder was 100% & he was capable of making all the throws...
there is some uncertainty associated with new HC, but a couple things about that...
linehan threw the ball a lot at both MIN & MIA when he was being groomed for this job... while we may not hear cries of maniac linehan replacing mad martz any time soon (

), he won't abandon one of the best WR corp in the NFL in holt, bruce & curtis...
i'm expecting a more balanced attack, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing... they have had a lot of three & outs in recent years & inability to sustain drives due to martz's heavily one-dimensional attack... better balance could equal more plays, & specifically more red zone & scoring opps...
the defense should be better, too, which will help with being able to execute game plan (preaching about balance is futile when being down by several TDs late in game forces team to abandon run game)...
bulger's shoulder injuries past two seasons are a concern, but linehan has vowed to protect him better, & their OL looks to be improved... 2005 first rounder barron flashed promise in his conversion to RT, & he should be stronger & more technically sound... youngsters like richie incognito & claude terrell (vying for LG position) will hopefully compensate for inexperience with an infusion of strength & energy to the interior OL...
ferrotte was nearly a top 10 QB as recently as last season, & bulger is more talented & probably has more talented WRs to work with...
TE was always an afterthought for martz... bulger is good at surveying the field & getting the ball to open WR... i'm excited about potential of rookie TEs klopfenstein & byrd in the reconfigured passing attack (probably more in future, they may not set the league on fire first season)... they could help bulger & the entire offense, especialy in the red zone, where they have struggled past few years, coinciding with deterioration of the OL (see turley flameout & struggles in interior last season) & the erosion of faulk's skills.
with a player like bulger that has missed a few games a season, it is important to break down numbers further & look at per game passing yardage stats... since he got injured at beginning of game several times past few years, that STILL skews the stats... when he completes games, he has been very close to 300 YPG, which would have surpassed even manning...
even if that monstrous pace is throttled down a little by linehan, i think bulger could be a pleasant surprise in TD department... IF he can stay healthy (& the principals, such as holt & jackson), a top 5 finish is well within his reach, imo.
