Hasselbeck entrenched as starter (1 Viewer)

Here's a blurb I found to be quite interesting. I think Hasselbeck can be a sneaky pickup this year. I think Seattle is going to have to throw a ton this year, and if what Sando says is true, Hass can be a nice sleeper. Here's the blurb.

Seahawks | Starting quarterback job belongs to Matt Hasselbeck

Seattle Seahawks QB Charlie Whitehurst offered QB Matt Hasselbeck no competition for the team's starting job, according to Mike Sando, of ESPN.com. Whitehurst has been a non-story thus far in training camp. There has been no evidence to suggest Hasselback is too old or a bad fit for the new system.

Actually picked him off waivers two weeks back after another owner left him for dead. I agree he could surprise and be a solid QB2 this year. Weapons are not too shabby:-Housh was written off but did catch 70+ passes last year in a both a passing offense and with QB play that left much to be desired. -Add Burlson back from injury, and add Tate via the draft. I also like Butler a bit as a WR4/5 type. -Carlson is a good weapon at TE (and maybe will see targets in the OLine doesn't need him to help blocking). -Forsett and Leon offer good pass catching ability and should see some good work in the passing game this year. Would not shock to see QB15-20 numbers if he stays healthy.

What does this say about Whitehurst? Either he was not what they thought he was or Hass has come back with a vengeance...

Probably some of both.I've read that Whitehurst has looked terrible; things as basic as dropping back after the snap have been an issue for him. Not good.

One of the worst set of skill position groups in the NFL to work with. Bottom 5 for sure.

Buffalo, Cleveland, Denver, Tampa Bay...you are hard pressed to find more than a handful that are worse.

Second likeliest place after Buffalo to have one of the rookie QBs in '11, like Luck or local boy Locker. Carroll will know both from the Pac-10.

HmmmHass.Golden Tate.John Carlson.Justin Forsett.Leon Washington.TJ Housh.Rams = worse. Jackson is great but Bradford needs time.Buffalo. Chicago. Cleveland. Denver. Tampa.Carolina has 2 tremendous RBs and a WR. But are bereft at QB and TE and WR2.Kansas City isnt pulling away at all. Worse at QB, TE and WR2.Oakland? Not that far off either way. They have a ton to prove also.Redskins are pretty ugly also. They fit in the bottom 10.
Hi Choke, I'm talking about skill positions around the QB. Rookie WR and Housh= badCarlson I like but there are at least 10 TEs rated over him perhaps more, he's not elite, but again I do like him quite a bit. The RBs are Julius, Forsett, and Leon who is coming off a bad injury...won't find much worse at RB anywhere in the NFL. Carolina has an All Pro WR and 2 Pro Bowl RBs, not even in the discussion, sorry. Oakland is a mystery because they finally have a replica of an NFL QB under Center, we just don't know enough about them yet. KC has Charles, Jones, Bowe, Chambers, they are going to shock people and have plenty for a QB to work with around him. I maintain bottom 5 but I think you have some valid points as usual Choke, nice post.
