ESPNews reports Seattle Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck (rib) suffered a fractured rib in the team's Week 2 game.

Didn't the xrays show no breaks? Strange.
If you saw his face yesterday as he approached the sideline, you know he is out a month minimum, he was in very serious pain. Felt bad for him.
Awesome! We can now set return dates by the look on someone's face through our television. Is it too hard to just wait for the info from someone in the medical field instead of giving out speculations?

Ok, if you have Rodgers, trade him now. He's my starter on my third team so he's gonna break a rib in week 3 ...

When Willis is on the field, just get out of bounds. No reason to risk getting injuried.

Willis is a beast!

Even if you own Housh/Burleson/Carlson, I wouldn't quite panic if Hasselbeck is out for a bit.

Wallace put up 11 TDs to only 3 INTs last year in 8 starts, for just over 1500 yards. The guy is efficient, even if not a stat-monger.

IIRC, Carlson started to emerge with Wallace there, so I think he'll be OK. It's Burleson and Housh I'd be a bit more wary about if Wallace can't move the chains.

 Carlson did start producing with Wallace as the QB.

Housh had exactly zero catches with Wallace in there finishing the game yesterday. I have already hit the panic button my friend. Other owners should do the same...

There is an audio link at the bottom of the article if you follow the link so you can hear Hasselbeck address the rib injury.

Hasselbeck: ‘Absolutely hoping to play’ this week

Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck talked to reporters this afternoon after head coach Jim Mora’s press conference.

He seemed in good spirits for someone who just suffered a fractured rib, and said he actually feels okay.

“I have definitely felt worse,” he said. “What I have is a painful injury, but I definitely have woken up on a Monday feeling worse. I don’t feel that bad, and that’s very encouraging.”

Hasselbeck then stated his intention on playing against Chicago on Sunday, and also said he’s played with a similar injury before during his time with the team.

“I’m absolutely hoping to play, absolutely,” Hasselbeck said. “I don’t know. That was the question I asked our medical staff, that I asked our doctors, and we didn’t have a whole lot of information last night when I talked to them. And there’s more information this week, so we’re focused on just trying to get better as quick as possible. So I’m hopeful.”

Hasselbeck said on the play he injured his rib, he couldn’t breathe, and was trying to get off the field in order to get Seneca Wallace in the game so the Seahawks could complete the drive with a score.

Hasselbeck said that’s why his face was red -- he wasn’t getting any air.

“I was trying to get off the field because I didn’t want us to have to waste a timeout,” he said. “And our trainers like three of them, tackled me.”

On the scramble to get into the end zone, this is what Hasselbeck had to say.

“I was trying to score a touchdown, trying to get close,” Hasselbeck said. “I think we had a minute to go. It’s a situation we’ve worked on. We don’t want to leave any time on the clock. The play was designed to go to John (Carlson) or T.J. (Houshmandzadeh), and you know, it just didn’t happen. Those guys were covered.

“There was a crease, and I thought maybe I could get in. And Patrick Willis came in from the backside, and had he not touched me I maybe would have scored.”

Hasselbeck said he’ll treat and rehab his injury this week, but is approaching this Sunday like he will play.

“Especially with the amount of guys we have banged up, I think that’s just an important part of any football team, is guys to realize the difference between pain and injury, and just give the team everything you got,” he said. “And put it in the coaches hands to decide who gives us our best chance to win this week, or what’s the best thing to do. But as a player, that’s not your call. Your job is to just go out there and give them what you got.”

Really? After only less than 30 minutes of play? Man, you're ready to sell Housh, Burleson and Carlson short. You go ahead and panic, I'll pencil Burleson as my FLEX.

Zero targets or zero catches? Either one in 30 minutes of play is terrible for a player that needs a lot of catches to have any value. He's not a deep threat.Someone rationally talk me back from the cliff.

Listening to the radio in Seattle this morning, sounds like Hawks are expecting Hasselbeck to play. One fractured rib, but internal injuries ruled out and he reportedly said he thinks he'll be able to play.
