hasselbeck injury (1 Viewer)

Didn't look that bad to me. He walked to the locker room. I would guess strain. Time will tell.

I disagree, as a Hass owner I am very worried. The play looked terrible. Immediately grabbed his knee, struggled off field, walked into locker room, but so did Edge. It has ACL written all over it, lets hope and pray that it is not!

read somewhere that they were suspecting that it was a mcl injury. i think read that on rotoworld. that would probably be a couple of weeks at least.

Agreed it looked bad initially. He was pounding the ground in frustration. He didn't put any weight on it leaving the field. Sitting on the bench later he didn't see so freaked out. Further, he walk to the locker room looked fairly normal.

I know that your fantasy team is important, but that would be devasting to those of us who are Seahawk fans.

Seattle homers, I would appreciate any medical updates that you are privy to. Not living in the area I was unable to see the game or gather a local feel for Seahawk news.

Thanks in advance.

Holmgren mum on Hasselbeck's injury

Permalink Posted by Mike Sando @ 04:58:23 pm

Coach Mike Holmgren firmly and flatly declined to offer a single shred of information on the knee injury that knocked QB Matt Hasselbeck out of the game today. He said Hasselbeck would undergo tests Monday. Holmgren said he would have no additional comment until then. The irony of this injury is that Seattle's pass protection was actually good on the play in question. Hasselbeck was not available for interviews after the game.

any one see it is it bad?
yes... a sprain is one thing.. but odd mid-game they can say it's a sprained ligament.... only an MRI can tell what REALLY is going on...wishful thinking to assume otherwise.his sister-in-law is hot, and made Rosie looked like a raving pitbull.. if that's any consolation.

knee sprains invariably turn into torn ACLs. as a hasselbeck owner, i am not happy.
Don't like the looks of this entire situation at all! Preparing for the worst - even if its not a tear he will likely miss multiple weeks. Bummer - tough year for the Hawks!

It looked EXACTLY like the type of hit that ends a QB's season to me.

Walking off the field on his own power should not be read as a positive or negative sign.

you can walk with a torn ACL
Exactly. A few FBG's are saying "he walked off the field" when, in reality, this simple act does nothing to verify or debunk a possible season ending injury to his knee.

If he misses a few games or more, what can we expect from Seat passing game? Is Wallace going to be able to connect with Jackson, Branch, etc.

That is what was reported during the game by, I believe, Pam Oliver... MCL.Either way, I think anything is speculation until the MRI results come back tomorrow.

After watching Wallace for the whole half, it looks as though he is a manager of the game, He is not going to be someone to light up fantasy teams. The team will rely heavily on Alexander if he is back soon, and the run and gun seems to be over if Hass is out. Like I stated earlier it does not look good. When a guy goes right to knee after being hit, slams the ground, can walk slightly, it has ACL written all over it. This is not good, I will hope for the best, but man the MCL is just a preliminary diagnosis that the training staff can make, but noone, and I mean noone truly knows how bad or hopeful it really is. We will see probably tomorrow!

NFL network just said a "reported mcl sprain" no link thats just exactly what eisen said on Gameday. He also said more to come on Monday, obviously...

Even in the best case scenario he is going to miss a few weeks - this will really hurt D JAx and Branch's values. Jax was smoking hot too.

Also SA takes a hit...if he ever comes back.

FWIW, Wallace, who looked pretty sharp for the most part, was locked onto D Jax. He was able to get him the ball so all is not lost if Hasselbeck can't go for a few weeks.

MCL's don't necessarily mean surgery, but would hamper his mobility.

To me, the hit looked similar to the one Carson Palmer had.

This has torn ligaments written all over it as well.

I still remember Olandis Gary playing the 2nd half on a torn ACL... I didn't think it looked that bad either.

Not necesarily. Holmgren plays his injury cards tight to the chest until he knows what's up. Also I don't read too much into Hass banging his fists into the ground. That's a pretty common reaction of his to bad plays, particularly dropped passes. I doubt the news will be good, but you can't read anything negative in reactions any more than you can read walking off the field as a good sign. They've been trying for a long time to get Wallace onto the field in any form but have been hesitant to do so to protect him as a QB. Let's hope they're right.

My only hope is that they don't rush Alexander back too quickly now, if in fact Hass is out for an extended period of time.

What does the team think of Wallace as a QB? Is he someone that we can count on as a fantasy option? He looked really lost today.

We should probably avoid playing doctor here. Holmgren hasn't given any details, and an MRI is scheduled for later. In the meantime, whether you are a Seahawk fan or a Hasselbeck owner, all we can do is wait. Darn it!

Hmmmm, let's see.Hass has started every game since Wallace has been in Seattle. All of a sudden he is thrown into a game where they are losing to Minnesota...

I would have thought Wallace would come in and throw for 2 TD's.......

This just feels like one of those injuries where the MRI is going to come back bad. If it is season ending, the Seahawks just became a fantasy football wasteland. Wallace is not good.

Well, to answer your question, the Seahoawks must think highly of Wallace to have them as their #2 guy.

Some teams cheap out on the #2 QB for cap reasons. I can tell you that if Eli Manning goes down, the Giants do NOT have faith in the Pilsbury Throw-boy as someone who can do anything more than hand off.Any Seahawks insiders know anything about Wallace's potential?

Dsigruntled Hasselbeck owner without a backup?????Seneca Wallace:

2004: Remained in Seattle throughout off-season working with quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn. Hard work paid off after winning third quarterback spot for second consecutive season. Served as emergency quarterback all 16 games. Played in all four preseason games, completing 41 of 77 passes (53.2%) for 439 yards with one touchdown and just one interception. Displayed athletic ability during practice rotating in at wide receiver and defensive back.

Pro:

Selected with the 13th pick in the fourth round (110th overall) for the Seahawks in the 2003 draft. His selection marked the third consecutive year the Seahawks had selected a quarterback in the draft, 14th in Seahawks history.

2003: Won the third quarterback spot in training camp and served as the emergency quarterback all 16 games. Played in all four preseason games, completing 24 of 43 passes (55.8%) for 228 yards and three interceptions

Actually I have Kitna and Carr, but Kitna is on Bye next week. I am interested in hearing about Wallace's potential if he is something special or just another fill-in. I am interested in hearing it from someone who has seen him play in training camp or practice, not just a data dump from a google search.

Actually, Lorenzen is pretty damn good. You would be surprised as to how mobile that big boy is, and he has a rocket arm.

He is better than one would think after first seeing him, but he is not good enough to take the Giants to the playoffs or even a winning season if Eli missed time. I live in Albany where the Giants training camp is so I saw him all through training camp, scrimages and of course the pre-season and I agree he looked better, but def not great. Back to the Hass deal, hopefully this whole conversation is pointless and Matt is fine.

don't really agree on the "sharp" part, but Wallace was definitely locked on Jackson
