Favre?Saw him play a bunch of times the last 3 years. Probably 15-20.
Gunslinger. Leader. Huge arm, good wheels. Tough.
His only issues will be:
Stop throwing off of his back foot
Realize that he doesn't have to make EVERY play like he did at Vandy.
This guy can put a team on his shoulders.
Will he make it as a starter? Who knows.
Will I be surprised at all if one day he's mentioned with the best to play QB? Not in the least.
I said in another thread, dont feel like searching for it:Culter will either be the next Brett Favre or the next Mike McMahon. Hes got all the right skills, a great attitude, and is a natural leader, but my biggest concern is him playing within a system, instead of having to walk on water to keep Vandy in the game.Favre?Saw him play a bunch of times the last 3 years. Bowl game no, but played at Athens, Knoxville, The Swamp, etc many times.Against Florida, he completed 28-42 for 361 yards and four scores in the double overtime thriller as he rallied the Commodores to 21 fourth quarter points to tie the game at 35-35 with just 54 seconds left to play.My main concern is before the draft (and now) people knocked Peyton for never winning the big game. Has Cutler ever BEEN in a big game?
Hi Az,Total non factor in my opinion (just like it was for Manning not beating Florida) Cutler beat a Tennessee team in front of 110,000 in Knoxville to knock them out of a bowl game. That was a huge game for him. He'll be fine on the "big game" front. My main concern is before the draft (and now) people knocked Peyton for never winning the big game. Works for me. Since I've never watched him, I just want to make sure any preconceived notions I have of this guy are based on fact since my two favorite teams are being discussed as possible destinations (Cards, Lions).Hi Az,Total non factor in my opinion (just like it was for Manning not beating Florida) Cutler beat a Tennessee team in front of 110,000 in Knoxville to knock them out of a bowl game. Was this really a non-factor?Hi Az,Total non factor in my opinion (just like it was for Manning not beating Florida) Cutler beat a Tennessee team in front of 110,000 in Knoxville to knock them out of a bowl game. Has Vanderbilt ever been in a big game?? The Vandy seniors made their last game of the season (at Tennessee) a huge game in their own minds. Cutler was incredible and led them to a win with a very Farve-like, come-from-behind final drive, which ended when on the run with people in his face, he rifled the ball into the smallest of openings for the game winning TD. It was more than just that drive too. He was 27-39-315-3tds-0picks-- and he was under constant pressure the whole game. It's not the only time he played so well. He was already being discussed as a 1st rounder, and a couple anonymous sources, a scout and a team personnel director, had already been quoted claiming Cutler > Leinart. Since this game the hype has really been piling up though. My main concern is before the draft (and now) people knocked Peyton for never winning the big game. Has Cutler ever BEEN in a big game?
I suppose that depends on what it's factoring in.Was this really a non-factor?Hi Az,Total non factor in my opinion (just like it was for Manning not beating Florida) Cutler beat a Tennessee team in front of 110,000 in Knoxville to knock them out of a bowl game. So is Ben Roethlisberger, Favre, Manning, Elway... basically any successful leader, which is what I want my QB to be. Maybe he overdoes it, I really don't know, but there's a world of difference between super-confident and cocky. From what I hear, he's more of the former. One thing that worries me is his attitude. He seems very cocky.
Please rate his cockiness on a 1-10 scale.1(Kurt Warner).........10(JP Losman)The few times Ive seen Cutler in person around Vandy and being interviewed on local news, Ive never seen anything that would lead me to believe hes terribly cocky or had a bad attitude.
Hes pretty much a consensus 1st rounder right now...how far up in the 1st do you see him going?I've watched him on the telly in a couple of games this year. He has all the tools, and for pete's sake, he played at Vanderbilt. They were on the cusp of bowl eligibility all season, which is remarkable for the only private school in the SEC. He could be a steal in the draft, but my sense is he goes earlier than people may expect at today's date.
4 or 5. He has some of the brashness youd expect from any 22-23 year old, but nothing I see as debilitating. Hes always been quick to deflect success from himself to his teammates.
Mid - first. Miami seems to be a popular choice in many mocks.Hes pretty much a consensus 1st rounder right now...how far up in the 1st do you see him going?I've watched him on the telly in a couple of games this year. That would be a great place for him, almost the perfect scenario...Mid - first.
