Have You Ever Drafted Only Using FBG Rankings and Projections? (1 Viewer)

So during the offseason I changed jobs, moved my family to another continent, was very busy at work, dealt with death of my grandfather, and ended up having no time whatsoever to spend on fantasy football. So I will draft exclusively using material provided by FBG. I barely know what has been player movement during the offseason, it's like I spent months in a cave and did not hear anything about football (well, not quite, but close).

I was curious to see if others had a similar experience before and if they saw a significant decline in their fantasy football success.

It can't be good, but I am hoping FBG will help limit my downside this year.

I feel like I am throwing a hail mary pass...

take a couple hours to read thru the pool, players pages and camp notes.

Last night I took part in a yahoo draft and was too busy to join the draft until round 14. I also had not made any changes at all to the yahoo preselects, so my draft turned out to follow exactly what the yahoo default would. it'll be an interesting year.

I draft using 100% FBG projections every single time out
I do too! For the last upteen years now...I only wish is what 100% accurate - never is. Adjust as it warrants. Someone always comes along and surprises and someone always comes along and disappoints. It's the nature of the beast.First day back woo hoo - here we go again! :)

Here is a way to minimize risk while drafting blind.

1. Download the Projections Dominator

2. Set weights on offensive players to factor in all 4 staffers (Dodds, Henry, Tremblay and Wood).

3. Save file.

4. Import this file into the Draft Dominator

This gives you the weighted average of four people that are very close to all of this. It also screens out most biases any one projector would have.

Do I assume that you are using David Dodds projections, which appear in the VBD software? ;)
;) Of course. As David said, I do use my fellow staff/buddies projections along with my own. Usually I'll throw 5%-10% weightings for Bob, David and Maurile against my own projections to smooth out some of the outliers. That still over/underweights the guys I am out of consensus with, but not to the point where I'm tempted to draft them several rounds higher than their ADP.

Last year my brother drafted whoever the Dominator told him was next best.

He drafted Tom Brady with his first pick.

He still got 2nd in the league. I plan on sticking very close to it this year.

Last year was my first subscribing. I played in 3 leagues from PPR to non-PPR. I used the Draft Dominator for all 3 of my drafts w/o any tweaking whatsoever. I finished 1st, 1st & 2nd in points.

Don't ask me how I did in the playoffs. :bag:

just make sure you have the most current version. The one I'm using has Plaxico Burress as the top player available in a redraft.

I've done this for 2 straight years and have won my league both years. Granted I did a lot of moving during the years, but I came out of the draft with a solid team.

You could do a whole lot worse like drafting from some outdated magazine like many uninformed owners do. Just use the latest FBG composite rankings and you will be fine.

It took me a while to figure it out too. You have to actually click on a player, then more options appear on the tool bar. Chose the set weight options, uncheck the apply to current player only option, then click on apply weights. There are 5 experts, I picked 20% for each, and it made Tomlinson #1 overall, I'm going to set Smith to 0% and give each of the 4 in Dodds' post 25% and see if it works. Doing it right now.Edit: I didn't have the updated version, that's why LT was ranked so high. I just downloaded the latest and am going to try again.

I know this is a really dumb question, but how do you actually use the DD? I have it downloaded and saved to my desktop, what exactly step by step, do I now need to do.

Please excuse my ignorance, and TIA.

Sorry... :goodposting: :)

Go to the list of forums and pick the applications forum. There is a ton of information there on how to use DD.

:lmao: This is good advice, but first I would open up DD, click on the help tab, read the readme file and the users manual. most of your questions should be answered there without waiting for someone to post an answer in the applications forum. That forum seems to be better for more advanced and technical applications.

That got me there, thank you for the info. I did notice that when I imported the projections for some reason it erased all my legue scoring info. I can just redo that.
