I think this is an interesting poll but it might be more useful if there was some way to judge the severity of the illnesses among groups.  If vaxxed people are getting mild versions of Covid and unvaxxed are getting it much worse, that seems highly relevant.

My vote would be had shots, and I don't know.   I've tested negative the 8-10 times I've had to take the test, but there have been 2-3 times where I've felt like trash with covid symptoms.

Similar with the rest of the immediate family.

Had covid summer 2020.    Very mild.   Got all 3 shots.    Mostly because I work with public and don't need to be ####ed with when I work.

Not worried about covid.   Not worried about the Vax.

Only 25% of the population has had cases if you don't include people having it twice.

Nobody in my household (4) has had it. 1 unvaxed. No boosters

Nope.  Actually I haven't even had so much as a cold since the start of the pandemic.  It's going to be weird getting sick again.

Double vaxxed.  Tested positive two weeks ago, kicked my ### and still lingering fatigue and breathing issues.  I’m a very healthy 42 year old.  No medical issues to speak of, in good shape, smoked for a long time but quit ten years ago.

My belief is way more people have had it than we think. I look at sports teams or health care workers who test for it frequently and the numbers of positive, asymptomatic cases and think while maybe because of close quarters in those environments you can't just extrapolate it to the whole public, you can safely say there are way, way more people who've had it but never got recorded as a positive test.

So, I'd guess I have had it but haven't been sick. (3 shots)

Three Moderna shots, no covid. Same with my wife.

My adult son also has had 3 shots, he got the omicron just after the holidays. Felt like he had a cold for about 2 weeks and a lingering cough that just recently went away.

Similar here.  Odd 2 years where my only doctor visits were routine/annual stuff (well...and the new one last year with the colonoscopy).  But not visits otherwise during the last 2 years.

Ive been exposed so many times and still never got it. Fully boosted here although some of those exposures happened before I was even vaxxed including sleeping in the same bed as my covid positive wife in Nov 2020.

Double vaxxed.

Got a pretty strong case in October 2021. Hospitalization wasn't ever considered. But felt as bad as I've felt in years.

Then blood clot in my leg right after.

All good now.

I was sick during Delta and tested negative.  About a month later I took a serology test and it confirmed I have covid antibodies.

While in my weekly testing phase I was sick a couple times with mild symptoms but tested negative.  During a couple week window where I had no symptoms, I had a positive covid test.  I never developed any symptoms in the 5 day window.  I'm not sure if this was a false positive or what.

No shots, never had symptoms more than a mild cold.

Not vaxxed.   Tested positive in December.  Had a minor cough for a week and was tired but otherwise was normal and not a big deal at all.

Wife and I completely vaxxed and been safe.  Son and his family (bout an hour away) are unvaxxed and currently going through it for the third time.  Makes us sick with worry and sucks we can't visit our 3 and 5 year old grandkids on a regular basis (wife is fighting stage 4 colon cancer).  Son and daughter-in-law are experiencing some of the symptoms now on a regular basis even when they don't test positive.

I knew a few people that got something in December 2019 before all heck broke loose.  I got that as well.  I think it was in the States long before they told us.

Haven’t had anything since but got jab due to high risk in immediate family.

Yes.

Got Covid at the beginning of 2021 before the vaccines were being rolled out.  Now I'm double vaxxed and got the booster about a month ago.

I still don't have my full taste and smell back (maybe 75%) more than a year later.

Double Vaxxed, not boosted.  Caught it right before Christmas.  Wasn't ever really bad, just annoying.  One day I did have the "brain fog" and that was not a comfortable feeling at all.  Thankfully it went away.  I did read how in some cases that can linger.

I'd say it was noticeable with minor symptoms for about 2 weeks.

well yeah but people can get a bit sick and not be tested - was it the flu? covid? something else? and then, when I had covid to me, it was a level 2/3 illness but someone else might have felt it level 4/5 type (10 being worst)

you're not wrong on versions/sickness level but we'd also have to take into account age, health, pre-existing conditions like did they smoke or take drugs/pills, how often excercise and then the big one - obesity / BMI

if I was 35 BMI, didn't exercise, at 52 years old I might have gotten it much much worse .... but I'm way lower than that BMI, I've never smoked, I exercise quite a bit, I rarely get sick, i take ZERO pills/drugs  ... those are very relevant too I think but I have no way to measure that across 500,000 people right ?

Sorry to hear that. Hope those issues go away soon.

Double vaxxed and boosted - Did not get it. Even from my wife who was double vaxxed but overdue for booster. Got it just before Christmas. Was somewhere between a cold and flu for her.

Our HOUSEHOLD

My direct family kind of looked like this:

ME (2x vaxxed, boosted) - Have not had

Wife (2x vaxxed)  - Had in Dec 2021.

Son (2x vaxxed, overdue for booster, lives at home) - Had in Dec. 2020.

DIFFERENT HOUSEHOLD

Other Son (JnJ vaccine in DEC 2021)  - Had in Dec. 2020

Daughter-in-law (2x vaxxed in Summer of 2021) - Had in Dec. 2020

3 year old Grandson (unvaxxed) - Had in Dec 2020

1 year old Granddaughter (unvaxxed) - Tested negative in Dec 2020 despite everyone in the house having it and being unable to fend for herself without mom.

DIFFERENT HOUSEHOLD

Daughter and her husband (both 2x vaxxed, overdue for boosters) - never had.

Man, I'm so sorry to hear that -- both what your wife is going through and your son's refusal to get vaxxed and allow you to see your grandkids. Must be really tough. Sending good thoughts your way

No shots. Got it from one of my kids. Felt off for a week. Sick for 2-3 days. Then off for another 3-4 days. Then suddenly just fine.

Wife has the shot and boosted (teacher required). She had it about the same as me.

Kids had basically 1 day of fever and some body aches. Then back to normal.

Vaxxed and boosted, never had it (as far as I know). I kind of want to look into that thing where you can apparently get an antibody test that will tell you if you've had it, independent of any vaccines.

Six-year-old son got Omicron over the holidays, about a month after his second shot; my wife, my older son and I all tested negative. He had a minor cough and that was it.

Yep. I had to answer the poll honestly and fear the answer is misleading. I believe I had it,* I have had the shots, but it was less severe than the common cold (same for my wife and kids) and I didn't even get to take a day off of work.

*Bizarrely I texted twice during the few days I had symptoms and was negative. However, I am firmly convinced I had it because I had identical symptoms as my wife who had it and we tested one of our kids and she also was positive.

My kids of similar age and also vaccinated similarly experienced the bold.

Yep, they think the number of cases is underestimated by a factor of 3-5

ETA never had it, and only 5 or so of 80+ people I work with have had it. ER is much worse.

Had it Thanksgiving 2020. The person who gave it to me was a close friend who didn't know he had it. We tested positive the same day. I got better. He died. Survivors guilt in its many forms is a real thing. His widow hugging me at his funeral (months later) and telling me she was glad I was ok still hurts alot.

Since then I'm fully vaccinated and boosted.

Got it alongside the wife.  Kid dragged it home.  We both had fairly mild symptoms, way less severe than a flu.  Biggest item was fatigue - made me very tired for a week.  Otherwise no big deal.

In my opinion this poll needs to reflect other options. What about if you had it prior to being vaxed as I did? Any option I choose skews results that aren’t accurate.

Had it bad in March 2020 the week that the world shutdown. I am vaxed and boosted now. Nothing since then even though I’ve had high exposure rate multiple times, including my 6yr old having COVID a few weeks ago.

Horrible.  You will be in my prayers. :(

Was just going to post this as well.

Sorry to hear that. Hope those issues go away soon.
Thanks.  I've been doing some breathing exercises to try and jump start my lungs.  My wife was good after a couple of days and my 6 year old and 11 year old daughters were feeling fine within the fist 24 hours.  Very weird.

Definitely a lot to consider when putting a poll together.

What are you trying to glean from this @Stealthycat

Yeah it is bizarre how it affects people in different ways.    I hope you feel better soon

Didn’t vote.

Had it in November, 2020 before the vaccine was available.

My wife was an essential worker at her office and brought it home.

She wasn’t too bad, but has had a brutal cough ever since…

Covid knocked me on my ### for ten days. Hardly got out of bed, but didn’t have the breathing issues so I wasn’t hospitalized.

Triple vaxxed since.

just curious us here - how effective shots have been at preventing covid .... and how many without shots have had it etc ..... just curiosity mostly
May as well ask how effective seatbelts have been at preventing accidents.

Appreciated.  We just don't visit because of the risk to my wife.  My son would welcome us with open arms.  Not his refusal, but ours.  We'll still visit in their garage with the windows up but that's all for now.  Thanks!
