HBO - Song of Ice&Fire Series -Varsity Thread - no TV only whiners (2 Viewers)

Just caught up with the series this weekend (didn't watch tonight's episode). Great stuff so far. LOVE the Imp and I was glad to see him get first billing and more focus in Season 2. Season 2 needs more Khalessi, though, but wandering through the desert isn't riveting television, I'll admit.

The baby killing disturbed the hell out of me. Really hope they don't go down that well again. My limits are high, but that's too much.

 
Stannous needed an equalizer. Enter a demon spawn. I'm kinda annoyed about it like the Michonne haters in Walking Dead, but this is even more unbelievable.

Well it is a fantasy series. Magic and monsters were pretty much dead at the start of the novels but as u can tell magic is rebornI figured some stuff wouldn't transfer well. How can you do a shadow?
 
Am I the only sick ******* who thought that Roz was going to be forced to do something else to the other girl with that staff?

Nah, there was another one 2 episodes ago I think (or maybe it was the season premiere). He was a pirate from the same place as the guy in tonight's episode.He kept talking about how he wanted to nail the queen after they took the red keep.

I knew that when the Shadow Birth happened it would have some interesting reactions from non-book viewers.

 
Was that the same Mountain from the jousting episode where he got bested by sir fruity pants? Or a different character all together. I ask because it looked like 2 different guys.

"THAT was a threat. See the difference??" :lol: GB the imp and Bronn.Very good episode. The torture scene was awesome. Not so sure about Petyr's visit with Cat though.Can't wait to see more of Brienne and Jaime.
 
Was that Joffrey scene in the book? The one with the whores? Gruesome. I think the show has established that he's evil. With all of the things that are pared down, I'm not sure we need to see more Joffrey being cruel.

Tyrion really does own every scene he's in. I loved the scene with him and Lancel as well...just as good on TV as it was in the book.I figured it would get an interesting reaction too. Also, it seems like in any show that if it is black and resembles smoke in any way that it's the LOST smoke monster. I liked how they combined the scenes and thought it was well done.

With the zombies and white walkers, that was set-up from the first moment of the series and the dragons were set-up from the beginning. However, that shadow baby came absolutely out of nowhere. I don't know what it was, but it got my attention alright. I am just having a really hard time figuring out the role that this thing has and where this scene is going. Also, I am surprised by the role Arrya has with Tywin. It sounds like she is going to become an assassin of some sorts. "A man can fight" guy she threw the axe to, I can't wait to see him get into a fight. I bet he can more than hold his own against Lannister guards. I thought the rat in the bucket torture technique was horrific...and what were they asking about anyway?
 
I usually dislike it when shows make we wonder about the gestation duration of shadow smoke babies. But this time I'm all in. Basically I just want some dragon akshun.

Joffrey and the hookers... :shock:

Smoke demon in no way reminded me of the Lost smoke monster. No annoying click-clacking sound, and the smoke demon actually took shape, using hands to pull itself out and then forming into a standing body. Thought it captured the book pretty well.

Some props for Tywin too. Dude rolls in and takes command. "Idiots, the prisoners can work."

Not sure what the scene with Rob and the field nurse/doctor was all about, but I enjoyed it. Plus she was pretty hot.

If you remember in the first season of AGOT The Mountain was in the Riverlands raping and pillaging commoners.

Lord Beric came to King's Landing to participate in the Hand's tournament and decided to stay for a time after the tournament's conclusion. (AGOT 28) He was still in the city when Ser Raymun Darry, Ser Karyl Vance, and Ser Marq Piper came to tell of Ser Gregor Clegane's depredations in the Riverlands. Lord Eddard charged him to lead a party under the king's banner to bring Gregor to justice. (AGOT 44)

Ok, this quesiton isn't really spoilerish. When Stannis arrived by boat to Renly's camp. That was a total surprise, correct?

I agree. I'd rather see some things they are blowing past in the effort to streamline the story.Book 3/Season ? spoiler:
Though, it will make watching Joffrey choke to death all the more...compelling.

You are going to be blown away. They are asking about an outlaw that has been seen in the show, but not really mentioned yet. He raids Lannister units. More will be revealed on him later.
