It's an ideal combination of a fantastically written character and a guy born to play the role. The lines Martin gives Tyrion in the book are great, and Dinklage plays them all perfectly.

I don't think so. So far, it's setting up what's to come, but it's definitely slow. I'm not worried as I know it's going to kick in high gear very soon, but it is definitely a bit slow right now.

They are really flying threw subjects/plots that took a lot longer to setup in the book. I have a feeling it will settle down soon.

Agree. I realize it's necessary for the role, but these wigs they're putting her in aren't doing her justice. I also didn't realize she's 39 until now.

Funny because I was thinking the same thing. I was wondering if it was something she was bringing to the role to show tension and perhaps mental instability of Cersei but dang it if it does not look like really something medical or psychological. I don't recall ever seeing anything like that in any of her other roles. If it is a detail she has employed as an actress, props to her.

As a book , I don't have a problem with sex scenes per se - but I do have a problem with devoting time to sex scenes for the sake of sex scenes when there's only so much time to tell the story. Adding sex scenes that weren't in the book means there's less time to include stuff that was actually in the book - and they're going to have to omit a ton of stuff already due to the short time constraints. So far, they've used the sex scenes to provide some eye candy while they're doing some character/plot/backstory exposition - so it hasn't really been a problem. I think there were a couple last night that may have been stretching it a bit, particularly the brothel scene.

Yeah, they could have let that go as we already know from season 1 that Littlefinger is a total *******.

I think that scene maligned Littlefinger. He's ruthless but I never imagined him ruthless in that way.

The people who worship the Seven think it's a crime against nature. But the Targaryens married brother & sister to each other for years. Of course, most of them were bat-#### crazy.

I have no problem with the incest on the show. I am pointing out that the Middle Age nobility were not engaged in incest like we see on the show. There is historic precedence for more closer levels of incest- particularly ancient Egypt.

I think the writers wanted to show some remorse or guilt for the killing of the innocent babies. Ros was able to express some sorrow for the baby. We also get to see the impact that the "Game of Thrones" has on the common people.

The Targaryan people wed brothers and sisters for hundreds of years which is discussed and heavily hinted at, but not shown. You can't tell me Walder Frey isn't up to some funny business with all manner of relatives with all his young brides.

Depends on what degree you're talking about. Brother & sister, father & daughter, mother & son, no. But there were plenty of marriages between first cousins.

Yah. Pretty small pool of European royalty to draw from to marry peers so there was a lot of close-family marriages.In the universe of the show, it depends upon your belief system. The people who worship the Seven think it's a crime against nature. But the Targaryens married brother & sister to each other for years. Of course, most of them were bat-#### crazy.

I have no problem with the incest on the show. I am pointing out that the Middle Age nobility were not engaged in incest like we see on the show. There is historic precedence for more closer levels of incest- particularly ancient Egypt.

Maybe I missed something. Other than Cersei and Jaime what "closer level" of incest are you talking about?

The Targaryan people wed brothers and sisters for hundreds of years which is discussed and heavily hinted at, but not shown. You can't tell me Walder Frey isn't up to some funny business with all manner of relatives with all his young brides.

I am a couple hundred pages in to the first book. I've also watched the first season and the first two eps of S2. Theres nothing about any of the above that I'd characterize as boring. I am not a fan of the incest and underage sex though. GRRM is a great writer but is more than a little creepy in many ways.

Gotta put things in perspective though. It's completely medieval....and IRL medieval ladies married when they started to bleed, and it wasn't all that uncommon for high lords/ladies to marry CLOSE relatives.Our concept of "underage" for sex is, historically speaking, very new.

During the Middle Ages, kids could consent to marriage as young as 7. Now, the marriage could always be annulled if they changed their mind before they reach puberty. However, generally speaking, they considered anyone 12 or older to be fair game. It is really only in the last 100 years that people in western culture decided that 16-18 was a more appropriate range. As for the incest, the Middle Ages saw cousins- even sometimes first cousins marry. However, sleeping with a sibling or child was really taboo then.

I thought we were talking about the nobility. It doesn't appear anyone in the show agrees with what Craster is doing. If they didn't need him he'd be dead. And given the way this show goes it wouldn't surprise me to see him dead sooner rather than later.

In the show, Cersei told Ned that Targaryans wed brother and sister for hundreds of years to keep bloodlines pure. That was part of her defense when Ned confronted her with the secret.
