HBO - Song of Ice&Fire Series -Varsity Thread - no TV only whiners (3 Viewers)

I feel like episode 4 to the end is going to be some of the best tv we have seen. Things are set up. We've met pretty much everybody. Now things go into motion. Next week's previews tell me good things are coming along with winter.

Seems like the starks treated him really well for being a ward and all. Seems to me like in this world, the Starks are the exception to the rule, where everyone else is very ruthless. theon is lucky he wasnt sent as a "guest" to another house
Robert Baratheon and Eddard Stark were themselves raised as wards in the Vale and loved Jon Arryn as a father for it.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Robert and Eddard where "voluntary" wards. The difference with Theon is that he was taken as a hostage basically, and many families might have mistreated him because of that. The Starks treated him like they would any other ward though, rather than treating him poorly because of the situation.

 to the casting director who found so many talented actresses to disrobe for the sake of story. I think a pole is in order.

When Margery dropped her robe, I definitely started a pole.
Daenerys is still leading imo.
Very pretty girl, but her body was just ok last season. I get that she was supposed to be pregnant at the end, but even at the beginning, i wasn't impressed.IMO, the best looking girl on the show is the slave girl that the Targaryens bought. (the one that had the tub scene with Viserys)

Oh HAI

I'm sure they treated him better than the Greyjoys would have treated a Stark hostage, but there's a few scenes in season one where Robb or Maester whatshisface have to put him in his place and remind him that he is still a prisoner.

what about ramsay snow and reek? isnt it time for them? next season?
very minor/vague future seasons/books spoiler re: Theon:
the way they are developing Theon they absolute MUST include Ramsay/Reek (or come up with a very very good alternative to tell that tale). We don't even know the redemption side of the story arc yet (if there even is one), but I have a feeling Theon's story is going to be one of the best to watch unfold on the Show.ETA: minute v. chapter, I think Theon has gotten a lot of extra air time. Gotta be for a reason. Dude seems like a good actor, but they are developing him pretty well for things to come imo

Casting and Sequence:
As far as I know, Ramsay Bolton isn't cast yet, so he won't be appearing this season. My guess is that the full Winterfell storyline of Clash isn't finished with this season. We will see Theon take over Winterfell, but it won't get to the point in time where he "kills" the boys yet, so Ramsay/Reek won't be necessary just yet either. I feel like I read somewhere that there are some characters that they put off meeting in Season 2 that were in Clash that will be saved for Season 3. I assumed Ramsay was the main one they were referring to.

Something I didn't quite get. Is Tyrion really marrying Myrcella off....or was that just a trick to determine the leak?
I'm sorry, but the how the hell did you not understand this sequence?
:lmao: "Why can't Tyrion make up his mind? First he says he's going to marry the girl to one guy then another and then another? Is he insane or just forgetful?"
Did you two read the rest of my comments on that, or just rush to judgement after reading 1 sentence?

No. I rushed to judgment. Much funnier that way.

I don't think the episode ever really clarified whether all three stories were lies, or just the two he told Varys and Littlefinger.

I don't recall if the book ever said what Tyrion told Varys and Finger. While the end result with Pycelle was the same in book and TV with him going to the black cells (in the book version Pycelle also pissed the bed when Tyrion and Shagga enter) how it played out was quite different if I remember right. Pycelle finds out about the betrothal thru a letter Tyrion wrote and Pycelle was supposed to send somewhere (Dorne?). Then Cersai confronts Tyrion and Tyrion realizes Pycelle is the rat. :nerd: ....out

To put it another way, the episode clearly illustrated that they were lies with the sole intent of plugging a leak.

The book played it out a little differently. Pycelle is in charge of the ravens at King's Landing. Tyrion has two sealed letters that he asks Pycelle to send to Dorne by raven. He tells Pycelle it is very important and the queen doesn't need to be burdened with it. It contains the same proposal that we saw in the show. This is obviously the real offer since sending the letter can't be undone. He verbally tells Littlefinger the same thing he did in the show.Tyrion then asks Varys if he knows how he is going to forge an allegiance with Dorne. Varys says he is going to offer Tommen - since he can't offer Myrcella to Lysa and Dorne. Implying that Varys has learned through his spies what Tyrion offered Littlefinger.Cersei confronts Tyrion about the offer of Myrcella to Dorne and the only way for her to know is if Pycelle opened the letter and told the queen.Dorne + Tommen would've implied VarysLysa + Myrcelle would've implied Littlefinger (or Varys if he holds back the info about Tommen).

Not all lies - he does intend to make a strategic marriage with Myrcella for the reasons he gave to Cercei.

Daenerys was my favorite last season, but Margery has the lead now. Stunning.
:yes:I was quite  when she took off her wizard robe. Also a fan of Imp's whore.

That is Stannis Baratheon. He is King Robert's oldest brother and next in-line for the throne since Joffrey is a *******. He was mentioned in the first season a few times, but never shown. Ned sends him a letter informing him of the incest and his rightful place as king. Stannis' younger brother Renley (gay dude now claiming he is king) mentions him in season 1 as being a great general, but lacking the personality to be a king.

One slight thing. Joff is not the rightful heir to the throne because he is not King Robert's son at all. If he were a ******* there could be something to talk about perhaps, but he is a Lannister incest project.
