1) It wasn't poisoned before as Joffery dumped it on Tyrions head......and Tyrion would have died if inadvertanly tasted some of it (which he claimed to "good vintage")

I just rewatched the last episode. You definitely notice the gem from Sansa's necklace missing after Grama Tyrell plays with her hair. Then the camera pans out and in the distance you see Grandma Tyrell walking past the royal table and hear an audible *CLINK* as she passes Joffery's cup. They amplified the sound so you'd know it was her.

I don't think anyone's really ruined anything for the TV only viewer. I know there were some panties blown up about those screen captures.......but in this day and age....there's always going to be someone analyzing stuff left and right. This is actually a pretty good observation imo. The easy answer is Stannis, but that's not necessarily the right answer. It is a strange situation, in which essentially everyone knows the king is a ******* child of incest, but he's still got the biggest army, strongest alliances and most ruthless and cunning people pulling the strings in Tywinn and Cersei.

Yeah...I would figure though that would be rendered moot when he pours the wine on Tyrion.

The only thing that helps The Clink Heard Round The World is that, IIRC.....Joffery acts a little weird right around that time....almost sounds like he has a gastro problem.

But....the thing that hurts The Clink Heard Round the World is that if the poison is supposed to be The Strangler......it pretty much worked right away the last time it was used.

Honestly, I think you guys are missing a lot of the point on what was so bad about the screen shots. IMO it wasn't that bad to talk about the QoT. She was brought up a couple times about possibly being in on it. Why I was telling people to stay away is because it linked the necklace Dontos gave Sansa to the equation. IMO it was really stupid to post something like that or talk about the jewels in any form over there.

I am sure most of the book readers finally got to put it together b/c they read Littlefinger ask Sansa about it and got the pleasure of that reveal as they reread that chapter. The TV viewers got that experience taken away from them, and I would pissed if I were them too.

The carafe makes sense now that I'm thinking more about it. Tyrion refills his cup but Joffrey doesn't actually drink from that cup until after he cuts the pie. He's too busy telling Tyrion to kneel. Also Tyrion tastes some of the wine that was poured on his head so it probably wasn't poisoned at that point yet. Unless he tastes so little that it isn't enough to kill him.It seems to make sense from what I can remember.

In regards to my "tight" comment.....yes....it is a very tight story. The ability over 18 years, 5 books and thousands of pages to tell a, more or less, seamless story involving multiple character points of view is a real accomplishment. Keep in mind though, that I read AFOC and DWD back to back. I'm assuming that's where you think the story bogged down.

If it was just a general game of thrones thread, sure, but the thread title explicitly says "no book readers," (or something to that effect) and FBGs has instead provided us with this venue to discuss book related topics. The problem is with fly sack, etc's lack of self control as opposed to the supposedly unrealistic expectations of the show-watchers who stick to their clearly labeled thread.

That's totally fine, and I have no intention on posting there. I just think it's a bit much to expect that degree of insulation and then get worked up when you don't get it. Totally different if you're talking about major plot points, but by and large I haven't seen much of that and didn't think today got there. At least before Fly just started messing with them, which clearly got out of hand.

And before we all get all sanctimonius and ####....there's been dozens of threads on this board where people have wanted to band together because of a common enjoyment of something....and just about every time someone shows up and starts pissing in it.....and that pissing is usually about 1/10 of what any book reader has pissed into that pool. come on. 0 chance somebody without previous knowledge of how poison got in the cup (jewel) puts those screen shots together and we all know it. I could see shots of the main suspects during that scene, but not tying dontos and necklace into it. I knew what was coming and still barely noticed something was missing from the necklace.
