Headphones Advice (1 Viewer)

I have the Bose in-ears and like them. However, there's little isolation and everyone else can hear your music

Still ear buds but I love this wireless LG HBS-730 set for $50. Also takes calls. Very nice not having wires that get caught while you're doing stuff. Good sound. http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-HBS-730-Bluetooth-Headset/dp/B009A5204K
the dude who runs the bodega down the street from me has these. They look dorky. Plus, they must not have a good mic on them cuz he's always basically yelling in Arabic when he's using them for phone calls
Dorkier than full size over the ear headphones at the gym or in public? With wireless (except from the shoulder to your ears) you can do all your projects without the wire connected to your phone or MP3 player. The phone mic works fine and turns off the music among other features. Maybe the Arabic guy is yelling because he thinks by doing so the guy on the other end who doesn't speak Arabic will understand him better?

Just thought I'd throw out a Bluetooth alternative. Great for active people who don't like the ear buds being torn from their ears every time they turn around with the weed wacker, while working on the car or cutting wood. No, they're not $300 Bose noise canceling headphones but I don't think that's what the OP was looking for.

The Beats buds are almost universally panned. If you want what Beats were meant to be, pick up a relatively cheap pair of the JVC Xtreme Xplosives. They overdo the bass in that way only people who are dedicated rock/hip-hop/electronica appreciate, but if you're active, that's likely your scene anyway, and they're absolutely bullet proof. Nice thick cord and durable rubber connections. Plus, they're like twenty bucks.

Bose stuff always gets mixed reviews. I love Bose sound. But I'm a big classical guy. Not sure the ie2's would be my first choice for the gym, though. Give an extra close look to the Amazon reviews for that. Seems like lots of active sorts have reported that they just don't hold up. Thin wires and shoddy connections that tear through pretty easy. They have a sport model. No idea if it fares better, but might be worth looking into.

I really like the Klipsch Image S4's and the Sennheiser CX300ii's as good compromises between audio quality and price. They're like 30-60 dollar range most places these days. Little higher for the Klipsch. Either of those would satisfy most audio snobs, and snap a couple Budloks on them and they're totally suitable for running or whatever. (Unless you have the world's most awesomely-designed ears for bud retainage, in which case I envy you.)

But again, unless you're an audiosnob, I sincerely believe the JVC XX's are the best exercise bud out there.

I have absolutely no thoughts on over the ears. Good luck out there.

The Bose sei2's I got seem very durable, provide a good sound, and stay secure in my ears, which I have never experienced in all of my earbud experience. As of now I would recommend, although they carry a sticker of $150 which is a little steep for earbuds.

Don't get the beats buds. My pair lasted about 9 months and now if I'm moving (working out / cutting grass), the shock the little hairs in my ears. Like an actual electric shock. I've stopped using them.
