Hearing Aids (1 Viewer)

Starting to look into hearing aids for myself. Does anyone have any direct or indirect with the different manufacturers and/or their products? The offices that I'm considering in my area deal with: Miracle Ear, Oticon, Phonak and Widex. However, they don't all carry the same brands, so the office I choose will dictate the brand I get. Any comments on those specific brands would be appreciated.

FWIW, this is out of pocket, but these offices are listed in the insurer's discount program.

I've worn hearing aids since suffering hearing loss due to a high fever around 2-3 years old so for as long as I can remember. Between my experience and seeing that of older relatives, I'd definitely advise against the Miracle Ear one-size-fits-all type product. See an audiologist, get tested and see what they recommend. I'm familiar with Oticon and think they are quality. I'm not aware of the last 2. Mine generally cost $4-5k for the pair and last 7-8 years before starting to have issues. They've come a long way as my newest pair have me hearing better than my wife now. Once you get them, be patient (especially on getting used to the sound of your own voice), and return to the vendor for programming adjustments a few times as needed to get them to sound as close to normal as possible.

Thanks for the replies. It's been a month with my hearing aids. Truly a life changer for me. Even though it can be expensive, about $5700 for me. It's worth every penny.

FWIW, went with Oticon.
