Hearts and Minds.... (1 Viewer)

It's 1000 times worse when you push your agenda on a fantasy football message board.
Ah...but YOU aren't forced to read it...or to reply to it....and you aren't graded on it.

First day here?

Last I checked, the "free for all" board has very little to do with fantasy football.

So...just keep on crying.

I get that we can't say stuff like ####, ####, ###, ####, #######, ####, #####, #######, dicklicker, or #### here, but why are words like ######, ######, ######## and ###### filtered??

That totally makes it okay then! :wall:
absolutely....

...and he just keeps on reading.
You really are a moron, aren't you?

How can you not see that you are doing the same exact thing? Have you met the kettle, yet?
No...it not even close to the same thing.

YOU are not sitting at a desk in MY classroom being FORCED to complete an assignment for a grade.

YOU are not dependent on the grade that I give you.

YOU can stop reading anytime....sixth grade students are forced to complete the assignment for a grade?

Does your grade depend on you seeing things my way.

Not even;

You read because you CHOOSE to read.

If you don't like it...you can stop.

If you read my post, you would have seen that I said "ANY teacher who pushes an agenda (either side) should be terminated."

Now, show me how me posting an news article, on an open forum, about a teacher teaching his students HIS agenda to a captive audience is the same as what the teacher did?

I'm still not getting it. Maybe you could capitalize some more words? That might help.

Looks like the assignment was to "compare and contrast."
Varmint might have felt better if it was not GWB but, say, FDR?
Again...in my OP

"ANY teacher who pushes an agenda (either side) should be terminated."
what's the agenda being pushed in this statement?

'Now that we have read about two men of power who abused their power in various ways, we will compare and contrast them and their actions."

Why Hitler?

Why not compare Bush to Obama

Both of them abused their power and NEITHER used genocide to do it.

You think we'd hear about if the homework assignment was comparing Obama to Hitler?

I admit that Hitler is such an extreme example that folks need to take care in these situations lest somebody get offended. For that reason, if I were a teacher, I wouldn't assign what this teacher assigned. Same with Varmint's example with Obama and a monkey. Some stuff is just too inflammatory to do this way. But I don't really see any evidence of indoctrination here.

It sounds like the kids had just read something about Hitler and something about Bush. That's why they were asked to compare and contrast those two leaders.

Not to mention many people compared Bush to Hitler during his presidency so it might actually be good to show the kids why that comparison is specious.

Actually, yes, I think we would. Most people are a little over-sensitive when it comes to "their" President.
