It seemed that Roethlisberger found a reliable target in his TE, Heath Miller.

Homers...how do you see it unfolding in 2006? I ask because he's being offered up at a pretty decent salary in our league.

How do you think he'll rank amongst TE's?? How will he compare to Gonzo & Gates?

Gates may not be as valued as before. With Brees gone, it will take a while to get him going again. Same with Gonzo... a new offense and new coach, who knows what will happen. Herman Moore is not a "offense" type of coach.Miller is probably the best bet, same coaches, same qb, same everything. Very stable, very solid.

 What did I miss? As for Miller - probably a good TE to have, somewhere in the top 10, possibly higher unless the Steelers acquire a #2 WR.

Miller might see a few more looks in the red zone with Bettis no longer around to convert in those situations. I would put Miller anywhere from 8 to 15. The Steelers just don't throw enough, and Ward gets most of the looks when they do.

Randle El's departure will also help, but Gates, Gonzalez, Shockey, Heap, Crumpler and Witten seem better options, and Cooley, LJ Smith, McMichael and Stevens are likely to finish ahead of Miller. Watson, Troupe, Pollard and Clark are potential threats, and Winslow may finally be around to show what he can do.

I don't think he will get anywhere near Gates or Gonzalez, even if the Steelers don't address their receiver or RB situation.

I have a suspicion that the Steelers are going to open up a wee bit more this year. The Steelers were very effective down the stretch and in the playoffs when they came out throwing and Miller was a big part of that.

Don't get me wrong, the Steelers will remain a running team, but with Big Ben entering his third year they are going to become more balanced.

I think that Miller creeps into the top 10 TEs this year.

I agree, GB. No way on Earth he puts up Gonzalez/Gates numbers - anyone who believes that is on crack. However, he's going to be a TD threat - I expect 6-7 TDs easy. if he gets a few more looks than last year (I believe he will, with a year of experience and the Steelers destined to be less run-heavy this year) - he could very easily be a top 10, maybe top 7 TE. Just don't expect an explosion - 50 catches 550-600 yds and 6-7 TDs is very reasonable.

You guys have already covered it -

Miller will be a startable fantasy TE for sure, and maybe in the bottom part of the top 10. The Steelers don't throw enough to get him much higher. I would rank him around 11 or 12 for next year right now.

I would like to know how rookie TE usually fare? Are TE more like RB and put up solid numbers in their first year or more like a WR and it takes 2-4 years to get rolling?

He was 10th in scoring in my local league last season. He should improve on this since Bus and El are gone.
Ditto in my 10 team auction/keeper $ league with 65pts.However that was do in large part to one 4 game stretch:

WK 5 vs SD: 8pts

WK 6 vs JAX: 12pts

WK 7 vs CIN: 11pts

WK 8 vs BAL: 13pts

The rest of the season's game totals were: 6, 5,3x3,1, and 6x0!

The top 7 ranging from 94pts to 167  had precious few 0's if any. If Miller doesn't disappear for 7 weeks then we're talking keeper material.

With the transition surrounding both Gates and Gonzo this year, I'd put Shockey as the number 1 TE this year. A much easier pick to target that the other 2 as well.

Miller has been covered - PIT is a run team
