"Helix" from SyFy: Debuts January 10 (1 Viewer)

Not bad. But they covered a ton of ground in the first episode. I know that you have to draw the viewers in, but on this network you'd think they could spread it out some.

caught it by accident (the show, not the virus) Friday night... pretty damn good I thought! Missed the 2nd episode, but got it set to record tonight. Epi 3 is Friday night.

Thought it was pretty good until the guy took his contacts out. Is he some type of alien?

I'm enjoying this show. Curious to see where they go and how they turn it into a series. Won't be happy if they're still in Antarctica next season.

still on board so far... is everybody a bad guy??
Asian and army both seem to be bad guys. The rest will probably play out their story in the moral grey zone. Sad to see the lady scientist go. She was starting to grow on me. Nice to see a show off a few characters so soon after getting the audience warmed up. No idea how they will develop the show, but could even see them killing everyone and starting next season with new location/characters.

1st ep was kind of meh

good atmosphere and a potentially interesting story. Got bogged down in smart people doing some pretty dumb things in spots. Not loving the lead. He just OK. Does it get better?

it's suspenseful enough so far to keep my interest... a few twists and a few disgusting shock moments also were nice, so I'm still on board through 6 episodes

a new hottie introduced in episode 6, and Jeri Ryan will be in the next one

that would be pretty good! They do seem to be moving towards a "no hope" ending thus far.

Some type of mutation. Seems reasonable within the parameters of the rules they've set.

That was a shorter appearance for her character than I imagined. Figured the cameo would at least last the season.

Was interested and will continue to watch it, but the plot lines are all jumbled (intentionally I'm sure) and very little happens in each episode. For an hour long episode you advance the plot maybe 10 minutes.

I tend to agree with that. Still interesting so far. And damn, the 2 good girl doctors are hot!

this one is a guilty pleasure for me

It'll never be "great" but it is/will be a fun ride. Curious to see how they take this past a season....

The concept is really good and it had the potential to be great with better/more disciplined writing -- and a more talented cast

The Scythe guy is pretty cheeeeesy. But looking forward to see how they wrap up the season next week. Should be good with "Mom" coming into the picture.

VERY cheezy. I mean, c'mon, he's supposed to be some super-assassin but he get's taken down by a scientist? Couple other things that bothered me:

  • How are they able to walk around so freely and the super-assassin still can't find them?
  • I don't get that Mika took the virus to the assassin. What purpose did that serve? He couldn't have waited? It seemed illogical.
  • The super-assasin was able to jump in the elevator, wisk Dr. Walker away without a sound? No one heard a thing? All in the matter of a few seconds?
  • How did they get the earth to open up and swallow the first assassin again? They KNEW that was going to happen? I missed that.
  • Early in the episode Dr.Walker said that Hatake was born in 1501. How did she know that? Was that something said off-camera and we we're supposed to be aware of?
There is some other stuff but I can't think of it now, but this last episode really tested my patience. Seems to be getting a little corny.

right there with you on most of those, especially the elevator kidnapping

I think the earth-opening was a trap they set, maybe one of those pressure switch things like where he had kept the virus and Constance's head?

I wondered about the birthdate also. If true, then the virus/cure has been around since the mid 1500's?! Maybe I missed that explanation as well somewhere along the way

The virus/cure is new. The group of people that have been creating it have obviously been around for some time.

There are a lot of connections yet to be made and hopefully they start closing at least a few of them. It's getting confusing.

Started off pretty good. Has become progressively more stereotypical Sci-Fi channel quality.
I think it's still good. The acting is significantly better than the standard Sci-Fi series. They just need to bring the plot-line back to earth.

I'lll stick it out for this season and that's it.

The payoffs have been disappointing and the acting has been mediocre. The writing is sub-par. They had atmosphere, location and some good ideas, but the ajor flaws are a detraction...

Hatake was only able to fight Scythe AFTER the first kill?

Seemed to be going ok for me, and then Day 11 and Day 12 got pretty crazy. I'd like to see how it wraps up this week, but I'm sure I'll stick around, especially if they keep it Jan-Mar next year.

What were you expecting? i think it is a typical SyFy show (absolutely hate that they spell it that way now). Acting is always rough with these shows, i think the key with most of these shows is low expectations. Enjoy it for what it is.

and speaking of which, i would love if the ending is basically the virus goes global, or at least expands into some highly populated areas. This could be done real great, but i think the budget will hold them back and they can't do anything like this. but seeing it like a pseudo-zombie apocalypse would be real fun if they can pull it off.

Being Human is pretty well done (although Lost Girl is crap)

This last episode was of Helix was pretty bad.

Expect that in order to extend the series, the virus will go global and maybe even focus on a different group of scientists...I won't be watching

Once I started watching the BBC version of Being Human I lost interest in the SciFi one.

These shows range from crappy to decent.

Not the thread for it, but the best TV I've seen in a long time is The Returned on IFC or Sundance (french original, not the new US version which so far loses all the subtlety, nuance, creepiness, sex, etc of the original). Only issue with it, is that they're taking for freaking ever to make the 2nd season.

Seasons 3 and 4 of the US one are better than the BBC ones. The BBC one went downhill in the later seasons

saw the finale and it re-affirmed my decision to abandon ship

disappointing because it had potential....

This has to be one of the worst shows I've ever made it through a full season of....

I'm sold on it enough to tune in next season. I don't think it's terrible like you do.

I'm still on board to at least see where they go with it next season. Should be interesting with the new Jules angle. Do we know if there another season guaranteed yet?

What was the potential of this show over multiple seasons taking place predominantly in an arctic research station with Ilaria constantly knocking on the door?

Most had to be aware that you can't spend multiple seasons in that setting...
