MelGo- Range of outcomes 8-16 points. Sees half the snaps, 9-12 carries, 2 catches and maybe a TD. That line was run blocking well in preseason (YMMV, preseason etc).
Hardman- Range of outcomes 5-15 points. Picked him up last year and was like- wait, who's this Robinson fellow? Wait, who's Pringle? Damnit! Unless he's really claimed the WR2 spot (which is really a WR3 considering the volume Kelce and Hill get), I think he's going to be hard to trust for me until I see it. I haven't been paying as much attention to Chiefs camp or who's running with the 1's but last year they kept peppering all of the guys, not a clear #2 WR. The floor is 2 catches my dude. Hope I'm wrong for your sake. He was way off my board...
I think this is a very easy choice for week 1. I go Melvin Gordon and it's not close. I have no idea how Hardman will actually be used. I would like to see a game before I just put him in the lineup.
Agreed with Gally above. Gordon and I dont think it is is that close. Only reason I play Hardman is if I know I am in an unfavorable matchup and you dont think you will win. I think Hardman is more of a boom or bust guy you can roll the dice on. Gordon is the better option for a low floor.
For week 1, I think you go Gordon as well. He is the safer play and a guarantee of points. Hardman is boom/bust material and we still don't know how he will be used. Watkins killed it in week 1 last year and we never heard from him again.
TBH I thought this was a "What player do I want on my team" not a "Who should I start week 1" - although now I see it says he's looking for flex oops
If this is just a week 1 roster question, then I agree with Gordon as the start for now. If Hardman takes over the clear #2 you can start using him once you have the clarity. (I'ld still take Hardman over Gordon if it was a simple who to roster question in most cases - baring a really weak RB stable)
