I did this for the Ourlads draft challenge. It was pretty simple, but their interface wasn't the best and their player pool didn't even include Brian Calhoun. Nor does it have the most current teams/picks (the Denver/SF picks are out of order).

So if there's any mistakes, I'll try to fix them.

This is based on what I understand the individual team needs to be and the talent available.

I think this mock is very up-to-date and very indicative how the first round may turn out.

I think

...Ngata and Bunkley should be flip-flopped (personal preference)

...If Cutler gets to Arizona, I don't think Arizona takes him

...If Cutler gets to Arizona, I don't think Arizona takes him
I hate Jay Cutler. He's the best player that nobody wants. Why didn't he pick a better school and become a stud? He messes up the whole draft. Never know where to put him.

I hope Mangold drops to #64, but I sincerely doubt it....

also, I don't think McNeal is the preferred "slash" player of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

 I know. But I didn't see where else he would go.

Who do you think is?
Michael Robinson, PSU is getting more love.As for Mangold, Cinci is rumored to be interested in him in the first. I think they'd pull the trigger if he drops in Rd2.

I didn't realize San Fran only has thre day 1 picks. If Cutler and Lienart are on the board at pick #6, they are almost definitely looking to move down.

Andy,

You have the Pack drafting a munchkin in round 2. The new regime talks like they'd cut Steve Smith if he was on the team and replace him with Rod Gardner. While WR is definately I need, I think they'd pass on Moss and address the secondary or interior OL(i.e. Mangold) there. IMO.

Robinson certainly fills the slash role and will come cheaper than a 3rd but I hope the Steelers take a legitimate QB to backup Ben & Batch. Omar Jacobs should be around in the 3rd and and Bruce Gradkowski should be around in the 4th round.

I guess I can't think down to the Packers level.I call that the "we have no choice" pick. There's nobody left to play receiver in GB.

Oh wait. They did acquire Mark Boerigter.

That may be a good place for Mangold to be selected.

Which is which?

You have:

3.79 Atlanta Falcons - Jerome Harrison, RB - Washington State

in your overall post, but:

3.79 Jerrious Norwood , RB - Mississippi St.

in your picks by team post.

Norwood.I went back and manually added Brian Calhoun to the Patriots, who I originally had taking Norwood. This bumps Norwood to the Falcons and Harrison out of the first three rounds.

Cutting and pasting three rounds can get kinda complex.

BlueOnion, I actually think Buf is more interested in Bunkley than Ngata. But whichever......

Andy, good stuff. I like it overall.

I'll comment on Dallas as thats something I have some understanding of.....

At 18, my latest thinking/reading has Dallas with Carpenter at #1 on their list. Wimbley#2 and Lawson #3.

The more that I read, the more that I sense that Lawson is a workout warrior and really benefited from Super Mario being on the other side. He also projects to more of a WOLB than a SOLB that Dallas needs.

Carpenter is the most experienced of the 3 and is the most ready to play. Dallas wants to win now. Carpenter has been mentioned as the best pashrusher of the OLBs and played DE on occasions in passing downs for OSU. Further, his dad played for Parcells and Tuna does like connections such as this.

Wimbley has measured extremely well. But his production hasn't quite matched up.

Maybe Dallas is playing possum. But the more that I read, the more I am leaning towards Carpenter at 18.

At 49, a safety would not surprise. I don't know what it is, but I really don't like Simpson. Maybe its his lack of experience. Maybe its his inclination to be a SS, not a FS. But I'm really not comfortable with him. I personally like Pat Watkins much better for Dallas, assuming they go safety here.

Really, in the second and third round, a FS, NT, TE, or OL would not surprise. I could spend a good hour discussing why each of those spots would be appropriate. But I don't have that time right now.

As for their 3rd round pick, I like Williams as a prospect. But I don't think Dallas takes a WR on Day 1. Yes, they need to get younger with both starters over 32. But behind TO and Glenn, Crayton is a solid #3 guy. And on Parcells' teams, backups must play special teams. Crayton returns punts. The #4 WR, Copper, is an excellent special teams player. He's the gunner on the punt team. So a rookie WR would be #5 on the depth chart and most likely would not be active on gameday. Dallas typically only takes 4 WRs to Sunday as Witten plays in the spread offense. I have a hard time seeing burning a first day draft pick on a guy that won't be active on Sunday, baring injury.

Overall, this is one of the better mocks that I have seen. I know a lot of work went into it. :goodjob:

I think Omar Jacobs is going to go too high for the Steelers to justify that pick. I like Gradowski later...I was just addressing the McNeal pick. If the Steelers were to take a "slash" player, I think they'd take Robinson over McNeal.

If the Texans come away with that draft I will be very happy. Looks great.

I think the Saints have to look at Hodge in the 2nd. But OG makes sense too since they signed a couple LBs in FA. Hodge would be more exciting though.

I like breaking it down like this.Teams that are coming out way ahead are the Panthers, Browns, Broncos, Lions, Texans, Colts, Vikings and Eagles. (Broncos would be doing flips.)

As a rams fan I'm happy with these picks (I really think Byrd could be gotten in the third though.

I really could see the Rams trading their first round pick back to Minn. to get Cutler and then trading back with Indy if Williams is still on the board. Then the Rams could get Greenway which is a linebacker that would fit their scheme great or get Pope a huge TE to stretch the field. ( I think Greenway falls on draft day, just a gut feeling)

Teams coming out bad in this mock are the Raiders, Giants, Bucs and Titans.

The only reason why I put the Titans up there is cause is they draft Young, Fischer will probably never get to see him play a down.

Good mock overall though

Good Job.

I would personally hope Detroit tries other options... but I wouldn't be unhappy with this.

I wouldn't be surprised if Maurice Stovall is their pick.

I'm interested in why you feel that way.
The Raiders need alot on defense and I, not being a raiders fan, think they need to address the D with their early pick or trade down. I think Andrew Walter is a great prospect and might be better than Leinart for that offense. Leinart doesn't have an extremly strong arm and all Oakland wants to do for the next couple years is throw the ball deep. In my oinion it's not a good fit. Howard is a nice LB from what I've read (never seen him play) and a ss is a spot they need help with. I just feel with a bad team like the Raiders they need impact help instead of getting projects. The Giants draft an underachieving DT in the first, a wr way to early in the second and a LB after they just paid Lavar alot of cash in the third. I just don't ssee them helping thier starting team.

The Bucs I might take back my statement alittle. I did see Joseph play a couple of times and he was a nice player. The kid from Cal is said be going alittle later.

I already stated why I didn't like Tenn.

 Interesting you did this at Ourlads and ignored their opinion of Richard Marshall. They're giving me second thoughts about him.

This would be so much easier if the QBs were not allowed!

I still think the WRs should fall, but I like this if they don't.

Nice rebound for Greenway. It seems likely given current reports. Still

Cromartie higher than Joseph. Jennings higher than Joseph. Maybe both higher than Marshall.

I agree with the comment that this mock looks very up to date.

People keep saying that the Raiders "just throw the ball deep". I think they're smart enough to play with the talent given them. Randy Moss is a good deep threat, but he also has a pretty good YAC average if I'm not mistaken.
The Giants draft an underachieving DT in the first, a wr way to early in the second and a LB after they just paid Lavar alot of cash in the third. I just don't ssee them helping thier starting team.
I think that Tom Coughlin could (using my best Vader voice) "Find new ways to motivate him" regarding Watson.Signing Arrington does not preclude taking a LB.

I think Plaxico is overrated and Tim Carter has proven nothing.

Those are my reasons, anyway. Thanks for the feedback.

I have second thoughts about Ourlads. Their mock has Haloti Ngata lasting until the 24th!!! pick, the Bengals and Jason Allen at #9 to the Lions. Further, they have the Broncos taking Davin Joseph, a guard, with their 1st rounder.I think that's :loco:

And why are sites projecting the Vikings to take a CB in the first? No chance given how much they're spending on Winfield and Smoot (who I expect to bounce back this year.)

I hope Mangold drops to #64, but I sincerely doubt it....

also, I don't think McNeal is the preferred "slash" player of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Mangold has an outside chance of going first round. Not sure I buy he goes late 2nd, considering the over-all opinion on this guy was "best center to come out in a decade."New Orleans snatches him up early 2nd IMO.

Nice job as usual Andy,

If Rod Wright falls as you predict to even the middle of the 3rd round, I can see the Steelers trading up to get him. They certainly have the draft picks to give.

We'll all know come Saturday

NICE NICE NICE :hats off:

please tell me more about:

DeAngelo Williams at 17. Youre the vikes homer...
The depth chart is currently:Chester Taylor

Mewelde Moore

Ciatrick Fason

Joe Echemandu

(Tony Richardson at fullback.)

That's doubleplus ungood.

I like Taylor but don't think he's the talent of a Williams. Plus they didn't break the bank for Taylor anyway.

Moore can't stay healthy and I view Fason as just a body.

Cincinnati Bengals1.24 Donte Whitner , SS - Ohio State2.55 Joe Klopfenstein , TE - Colorado3.91 Stanley McClover , DE - Auburn
I could live with this. I really like each of these prospects and each fills a need. However, with Cromartie still sitting on the board, I'd rather they took him. Dexter Jackson is not a long term answer at S, but he's probably longer term than Tory James at CB. I know he was a pro bowler two years ago, but he slowed a bit last year and now is a good time to groom a young guy with high upside. I like this mock. Very nice job overall.

 I know. But I didn't see where else he would go.

Who do you think is?
Michael Robinson, PSU is getting more love.As for Mangold, Cinci is rumored to be interested in him in the first. I think they'd pull the trigger if he drops in Rd2.
I would disagree with that if true. Everything I've heard states that Robinson is way more cut out for RB than WR. Some are saying that about McNeal as well, but he has elite speed that would make him more of a vertical threat. I think McNeal is a better pick.

Round 2

2.37 Denver Broncos - Mathias Kiwanuka, DE - Boston College

2.39 Tennessee Titans - Ashton Youboty, DB - Ohio State

2.40 Detroit Lions - Abdul Hodge, ILB - Iowa

2.41 Arizona Cardinals - Leonard Pope, TE - Georgia

2.42 Buffalo Bills - Jonathan Scott, OT - Texas

2.45 Philadelphia Eagles - Tamba Hali, DE - Penn State

2.50 San Diego Chargers - D'Qwell Jackson, ILB - Maryland

2.60 Jacksonville Jaguars - Joseph Addai, RB - LSU

2.64 Pittsburgh Steelers - Nick Mangold, OC - Ohio State

Round 3

3.66 Houston Texans - Darryl Tapp, DE - Virginia Tech

3.68 Denver Broncos - Darnell Bing, SS - Southern Cal

3.85 Kansas City Chiefs - Elvis Dumervil, DE - Louisville

3.87 New York Giants - A.J. Nicholson, OLB - Florida State

3.94 Indianapolis Colts - Rodrique Wright, DT - Texas

3.97 New York Jets - Greg Eslinger, OC - Minnesota
There looks to be some serious value in rounds 2 and 3 IMO!

Wouldn't it be neat for just once that the Steelers actually drafted somebody who already knows how to play WR?

Everywhere you look the Bills are taking Brodrick Bunkley, DT - Florida State.Paul Z on si has them grabbing Huff.

With them adding Triplett to presumably replace Adams wouldnt they look at backfield help or trade down for WR?

Round 1

1.18 Dallas Cowboys - Manny Lawson, DE - North Carolina State

1.23 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Johnathan Joseph, DB - South Carolina
A few other comments: I see 18 being Carpenter or Wimbley, not Lawson.very intrigued by tampa going DB - could you say a little more on this one?

:lmao: Troy Edwards, Charles Johnson, Plaxico Burress

Hines Ward, Antwaan Randle-El, Kordell Stewart

Which group do you prefer ?

I say stick with the hybrids....

I think McNeal is a better pick.
he's a rarer physical talent, but just not steelers type of guy imo. I would expect Brad Smith or Robinson before McNeal. Remember McNeal still thinks he's going to be a QB in the NFL.

Possibly. But a good push up the middle takes a lot of pressure off your defensive backfield. They were stupid to let Pat Williams go.

I am just not high on Robinson and think McNeal would be a better El replacement.Brad Smith, I might like best of them all, though - wouldn't complain about him one bit.

 That works too. I'm going to enjoy going back and seeing how many I got right in terms of teams taking a partcular position at a particular spot.

They have no depth at the position and Kelly and Barber are 9 and 10 year veterans, respectively, so age is starting to creep into that defense. Joseph seemed BPA for that spot.
