Hey FBG's - An idea for a New Feature (1 Viewer)

I have no idea whether this is even plausible, but I was thinking a cool feature (more of a novelty item for bragging rights) would be to have some sort of calculator/equation wherein you can input all the people in a trade and find out who got the better value. I have no clue how you would assign various numerical data to each players (obviously if would have to be based on your future dynasty rankings, age of player, etc.), but just throwing the idea out there. I realize there is a pick calculator, but I'm talking about something more in depth.

For example, if Team A trades Calvin Johnson, Aaron Roders and Witten for Matt Forte and Drew Brees, it would be cool if there was some sort of formula that hypothetically says "Team A improved their dynasty team by 25% and Team B got Screwed" or something along those lines. Obviously, there are many variables to consider (i.e. roster depth, starting requirements, etc.), but I'm just talking about the trade value in general.

Just an idea.

The Trade Dominator has been available for some years now. It is not very useful during the off-season, but it can still be used. It is, however, highly useful during the regular season. It gives you pretty much exactly what you are looking for.

Maybe they could name it Trade Dominator or something like that. (j/k) Would it be possible to expand on the trade dominator to take dynasty values into account.

Trade Dominator is predicated purely on projected value for rest of the season during the season.

It doesn't have alot to do with situation or futures of a player. Even in season, I am not sure how it could anticipate that Beanie Wells could win the starting job and start getting more carries. Maybe I am wrong. I found it to be somewhat limited due to that reason.

Not sure how you could quantify a player's full potential.

The problem with creating a tool like this is the off-season shuffling of non-skill impact players (OT, OG, C, etc) and coaching staffs/philosophies. A guy like Eddie Royal who was a gem under Shanahan was a bust under McDaniels due to the change in scheme (+ possible other intangibles we aren't aware of). I'm not sure that a tool based solely on past production would be indicative of future dynasty values, and building in the fudge factors for nebulous un-quantifiables like coaching philosophy or loss of center would be very challenging, I'd think. I think those of us who play in dynasty and IDP dynasty leagues (I'm in two IDP dynasty leagues, personally) will just have to make our own best projections in late April after the draft based on our personal analysis of each team's off-season acquisitions and draft picks. My  .

Understandably, it's not an exact science but if you experts can give us dynasty rankings I don't see how such a tool would be any less accurate.

That would be great if dynasty leagues had a black-out period till late April (I'm in 5) but most do not. granted I can make decisions for myself but some added input is always nice and we all know the AC forum is iffy at best

I would rather see a couple chat rooms that people could come in and talk to each other live. Get info from other people on the spot. These would fill up fast on gamedays.

Just an idea and not sure on how it would set up or cost.

The problem is the inherent disarray of chat rooms. You're probably picturing things in a nice, leisurely, systematic manner where a person asks a question and receives a handful of answers. In reality, the result would likely be a chaotic mixture of people demanding answers for their questions, other people hurling around insults, and a few people trying to instill order while everything continually scrolls off the screen.

Agreed. Just take pre-existing rankings and adopt them for a dynasty trade evaluator tool. Don't worry about what we don't know or can't foresee happening. Obviously if a team takes a first round RB then their existing back's dynasty value takes a hit, but since you don't know that's going to happen now you don't worry about it. When it does happen, then update the system. The trick would be incorporating value in draft picks for the current and future years. That's where the real conjecture and uncertainty lies, and likely the hardest part to figure out when evaluating dynasty trades.
