High upside flyers that could win your league (1 Viewer)

Live in San Diego. Watched Penny's entire career. He's beyond special. Don't worry about his weight or broken digit. He's gonna open a lot of eyes.
Weird, I just posted the opposite.  A benificiary of circumstance and opportunty imo.

washed = washed up

It caught my eye when the Seahawks played Carson in the 4th preseason game, which is usually reserved for backups and guys fighting for roster spots. Wouldn't be surprised to see Penny lead the team in carries in week one. Carson looks serviceable, but also feels like one of those guys who becomes overrated because all the people who "found" him for cheap are getting over-excited. I want to say that when a player who is a UDFA or late rounder comes along and has some success, people who roster him as the wave starts to build are more prone to getting carried away because the narrative of finding the golden needle in the haystack is so appealing. I was probably guilty of it myself with people like Cecil Shorts, Marlon Brown, and Branden Oliver. Most of the time you're not going to get an Arian Foster, Antonio Gates, or Victor Cruz here.

All that's just a long-winded way of saying that in the Seattle backfield I like the first round rookie RB with 4.4 speed over the 7th round incumbent who was risked in the most meaningless game of the year.

WR Enunwa - #2 WR for Jets behind a Robby Anderson who's constantly in trouble
I like this one. tried to trade for him in one league. hes so cheap. His last full season was over 100 targets.

Throw in Yeldon, Gio, Chase Edmonds.  All of these guys could be potential workhorses if the first guy goes down.
Yes to Yeldon and Edmonds

Connor as well. Ekeler not so much as I think Jackson is better, but Ekeler gets first crack

SEA had just got done paying Lockett and he was out there with Carson on that first drive. So was Vannett, Ifedi and Pocic. All of these guys are going to be starting Sunday so I think your post is missing some context.

RB-wise, im looking at the projected "Good" nfl teams to find fliers

clement, michel (know he's not a flier but he's defnietely not an early round pick), conner, L Murray, cj anderson, spencer ware

Late round fliers that could win a league for me would be Keke Coutee, Callaway, John Kelly, and Phillip Lindsay

Cordarrelle Patterson

Brandon Marshall

Jeremy Hill

Patrick Mahomes

Tyrod Taylor

Nick Chubb

who ever the #2 WR on GB ends up being

Marahawn Lynch

I mean the dude was in the stands watching his own team play at one point last year. Anything is possible with Lynch.
To this day, I believe Carroll called the pass in the SB so Lynch would not grab his junk. It was "clear as day" to me in real time, watching it unfold.

K Benjamin is going to get a boatload of targets in Buffalo.

Check out the first quarter of the first preseason game where Peterman was just chucking it up to him and letting him fight for it. That will continue.

Their line is not good so that is one of the only options in the passing attack.

Same could have been said about Marshall Faulk and we know how that turned out. Penny crushed his competition and has amazing balance and footwork. If he can stay healthy this season and he gets the opportunity, he is going to open a lot of eyes. Let's revisit this thread later, I bet you'll come to a different opinion.

I'll throw Philip Dorsett's name out there. Free in most formats. One could argue he's a plug and play for Cooks last year. Great upside.

Hard to see many of these names being a difference maker in terms of league winning.  For a WR to truly be a difference maker, he has to be like a Josh Gordon from a few years ago that really outpaced the field - otherwise, WR scoring is just too bunched together.

My guess that a league winner will turn out to be a backup RB that comes out of nowhere due to an ineffective or injured starter. Or maybe a QB like Mahomes that just goes off due to his dual threat.

Dalton.

Has 3/5th of a line instead of 1/5.  And that line has looked better in pass protection than run blocking.  Plentiful weapons.  Can be had at the end of drafts or even on waivers.

As far as league winning fantasy output I could see either GB running back not named Ty Montgomery putting up 15-20 fantasy points consistently by week 10 on if not earlier.

Lots of opportunity for production in that offense and GB wins games, which correlates to higher RB fantasy production like 70 some percent of the time.

Not exactly flyers but a lot of guys got Jones or Willams as their RB4 and getting high end RB2 production off the bench late season when an injury hits can be the difference maker in my league.

Jordan reed - a guy who has the ability to be the TE1 this year, with a qb who made Vernon Davis and Travis Kelcz into household names?  And can be had in the 8th round and beyond?  As platoon TE with potential to be my every week started, Sign me up!

Jax D - the one defense I might be willing to draft in single digit rounds.  The advantage they give you every week at def/st is similar to what Gronk gives you at te.  No other defense even comes close.
The issue with Reed is the guy gets hurt walking to the mail box.  Nobody has ever doubted the talent.  I don't think he'll play more than 10 games this year.  He's always hurt.

Totally agree re. Jax D - I usually don't draft a Defense until just before a kicker - it's just not worth the premium.  I took Jax this year after riding them hard last year.  Best D and it's not even close.  Totally agree re. your Gronk analogy.

I've never seen this before but this guy has a "rb,te" designation at yahoo.

Is he sharing with Conner if Bell doesn't report?

3rd down, hurry up RB?

Not enough touches to bother with?
I really have no idea how the Steelers will try to replace Bell. I suspect Samuels will get touches, but Conner looks like the feature back for now.

Samuels is definitely worth a roster spot, though. If Bell's holdout goes any length, Samuels has the talent to surprise.

Samuels is TE-eligible in Yahoo!, certainly increasing the intrigue.

In a rush but the guys I’m targeting late are John Brown, Keelan Cole and Ryan Grant. 2’s on teams that like to throw the ball. Also agree with Wilkins in Indy, have been scooping him up where I can. Maybe not league winners but could be single week winners if they get hot.
This is my group as well. Maybe also Allison & Dorsett.

i realize no one can see the ‘star’ yet but the criteria is bargain at cost and RB:WR1-2 by the end of the year.

What I like about Jax is that their defense is rather young and full of stars or high potential players. They even had a few TDS overturned last year and got stopped at the 1 yard line on INT returns a couple of times.
