Highly-touted week 1 disappointments least likely to live (1 Viewer)

There is a lot of jumping off bandwagons and conclusions being drawn from one week - personally, I need to step back on this one, and revisit in a few weeks, it's way too premature to sell studs.

I don't know what to think about Royal to be honest. I think Orton is about as awful a QB as you're going to find in the NFL but I figured he could at least feed Royal for 5-6 receptions a game on 5-yard routes. After today, I'm not sure he can even do that. The Broncos play Cleveland next week and I'm tempted to sit Royal. I probably won't but it was brutal watching Orton today.
Yeah...I've been trying to talk myself into dropping Royal and picking up Michael Clayton...
That would be a classic over-reaction. Take a shot or two of Jack and go to bed instead.

Steven Jackson -- His average looked alright today, but the Rams are just going to struggle to put the ball in the endzone all year. I just don't see a lot of TDs for Jackson this season.
I will hang onto him. He managed to get 66 yards with no holds to run thru. Stl just needs to throw him the ball.

Yes. But Delhomme is just that bad. If you drafted him as your backup QB, cut him and get someone else. If you drafted him as your starter, well, you weren't gonna win anything anyway.

Stephen Jackson.I could not for the life of me understand how he continues to be a 1st round pick. I actually felt bad for the team that took him in the 1st this year, I just KNEW he was going to be terrible.
:IBTL: I keep saying this and keep getting killed for it.

To me, Drew Brees looked like he had so much confidence in all his weapons, and they all looked so capable that I have trouble believing Colston is going to see a big enough share of the pie to validate his projections and draft position. I don't think this is really a 2007 N.E situation, where Moss and Welker had such clearly defined roles, with the other WR's playing obvious supporting roles. I think it's a whole corps who each have decent big play potential, and the N.O. offense is just going to go after matchups on a play by play basis.

Pierre Thomas ... hard to be down on a guy who didn't play, but Mike Bell earned carries even when Thomas is back.

Felix Jones ... had some people in leagues I am in hyping him saying he could score more fantasy pts for the year than Barber.

Jackson is the most overrated 'first round' pick in FF..he doesn't belong in the first round, he's a third-rate RB who consistenly posts Jamal Lewis-esque numbers - 1006 yards, 6 tds.how does this guy keep getting so much love? :(
A third-rate RB? No, he is a very good RB who is stuck on a really bad team. Very few RBs would have been as productive last year on that bad of a team as Jackson. I suggest you watch more football instead of just looking at stat sheets. :lmao:

Again, Jackson, on a PER GAME BASIS, is easily top 5 in ppr formats.....2008 - 118.4 yfs / 3.3 rec / 0.7 td - 2-14 Rams (16gms = 1389rush/53rec-505yds/11tds)2007 - 106.1 yfs / 3.2 rec / 0.5 td - 3-13 Rams (16gms = 1336rush/51rec-361yds/8tds)2006 - 145.9 yfs / 5.6 rec / 1.0 td - 8-8 Rams (16gms did = 1528rush/91rec-806yds/16tds)2005 - 91.1 yfs / 2.9 rec / 0.7 td - 6-10 Rams.. so unless you project injury for him, he sure looks like a safe bet to finish top 5 ppr, and top 10 non ppr, no? Certainly first round viable. He's put up very good numbers on a per game basis each of the last 3 years while the rams went 13 - 35 as well, so he's proven he can do it while the team around him is putrid. Comparing him to J. Lewis is just silly.

After implementing some of the strategies and player forecast's I bought into from this site I eagerly looked forward to week 1. I put forth with great confidence the following lineup:

Qb- Gaarad

Rb- Brown

Rb- Parker

Wr- A. Johnson

Wr- R. White

Wr- S. Smith

Te- Olsen

The beatdown I suffered from a what I thought was a vastly inferior lineup has me muttering and twitching this morning.

I'm a FF football veteran and don't blame the great advice given on this site, but man, I just can't ever remember a team of mine sucking this bad on opening day when it promised so much. Hopefully the FF God's are just having week 1 fun at my expense.

I am now officially worried though, about R. Brown and Parker and am looking for WW help already. Heavy sigh...
