Hindsight being 20/20 (1 Viewer)

I think SD did well on draft day and it's obviously not fair to criticize based on 20/20 hingsight.... but lets.

If you would have told me before the draft SD would have been able to get...

1st round - Winston Justice(OT)

2nd round - Ashton Youboty(CB)

3rd round - Gerris Wilkinson(ILB)

... I would have been ecstatic! I think this group helps SD even more than Cromartie/McNeil/Whitehurst.

For the Bears, I would have traded down with Buffalo (as the Bears did) and then drafted:

TE David Thomas (and a bowl of chili with a partial finger)

CB Richard Marshall

OLB Jon Alston

Dallas:

1st - Cromartie and make him a FS or Lawson before Carpenter. I'm okay with Carpenter and I know they really loved him, so we'll see. Lawson has better upside, probably a higher floor too. Cromartie may be a fine corner for the Chargers, but I think he could be a great safety alongside Roy.

2nd - Should have stayed put and grabbed McNiell or Whitworth, whoever they preferred. I know they miss Dan Campbell, and you have to believe Bill sees Bavaro in Fasano, but Witten is the receiving TE and needs to be on the field always. His blocking has improved. This is a situational player in the 2nd round on a team with big holes. Darryl Tapp could have filled the Carpenter role and they could have him and Cromartie.

3rd - wt:lmao: Gabe Watson would have made me happy. Gerris Wilkerson would have pushed for a starting job. I hope Jason Hatcher is great. I did see Grambling a couple times and he's always making plays, but they could have had him with their 5th, so anyone else would have been better. Will Montgomery is a versatile OL who can play guard and center, possibly win the starting job, and definitely provide much needed depth. I love Dale Robinson and think he would have been a beast at ILB in their system. Just a very hard to understand pick.

I'll take a stab with Tampa...

1. Santonio Holmes....eventual replacement for Galloway. Fits better than Stovall if Clayton is the real deal.

2. Eric Winston....too much value to pass up...twice. And from an instate school.

3. Orien Harris/Ray Edwards.....insert name of DL here...need to build the line up and then turn to the LBs...

I can't argue with the Niners first two picks I think they came together perfectly, but Brandon Williams he just seems like he will be very limited at the next level, I don't know much about him but I know I think they should have looked D line but hopefully they can pick up Wright tomorrow.

That's a pretty good list. Agree with all of them.

for the Bills (assuming they stayed at #8 and traded up to #26 again):

1.08 DT Broderick Bunkley

1.26 OT Winston Justice

3.06 CB Ashton Youboty

Bengals

1st Jonathan Joseph :)

2nd Andrew Whitworth :)

3rd Frostee Rucker :X  :hot: :loco:    :wall: :yucky:

Something tells me that reach is going to be a lot closer to Matthias Askew than Madieu Williams.

Mark Anderson would have been fine.

ETA/

Oh dear. Hobson finally posted Frostee's junk on Bengals.com. Marvin say Frostee had a second round grade and that they would have taken him in the second if Whitworth wasn't there.

He's been described as Robert Geathers, but a little stouter against the run.

Am I missing something?

Solid route runner...great hands...good speed...hell of a return guy.

You're still believing the predraft hype though. Theres a reason that those guys dropped- they aren't as good as we thought in the eyes of the scouts.

Why is everyone still so high on Justice after so many pro teams that have scouted him for months passed on him?

Yeah, that's possible. But it's also possible many of these GM's talk themselves into why guys aren't viable options based combind #'s and off-field issues which shouldn't matter nearly as much as the athletes performence on the field imo. Their performence on the field for the last several years are the reason they had the high ratings in the first place.

Also, are these the same pro teams that scouted Lofa Tatupu last year and decided to pass on him?

lots of players who drop on draft day still wind up doing pretty well. remember Randy Moss? Thurman Thomas? Drew Brees? Kevin Jones?we don't yet know exactly why he dropped, but it may not be b/c the scouts think he's no good. there could be other reasons besides talent/ability why an NFL team would be afraid to spend a 1st round pick on a particular player.

I was hoping for Darnell Bing or Pat Watkins in the 3rd, but can't argue with Williams. I think Bing/Watkins is the choice in Rd 4, and LB and DE are addressed later.

6th round - Antoine Bethea(FS)

6th round - Devin Aromashodu(WR)

7th round - Dee Webb(CB)

7th round - Derek Morris(OT)

Most people agree that the Buffalo Bills had the worst draft of them all. What would you be saying if this were their draft?

1.08 Broderick Bunkley, DT Florida State - Ngata is great but Bunkley fits their system so much better

1.26 Nick Mangold, C Ohio State - Taking a real center would allow TACKLE Trey Teague to move back to the outside where he is more effective.

3.70 Ashton Youbouty, CB Ohio State - First round talent in the third round

4.105 Ko Simpson FS, South Carolina - If they knew they'd have gotten Ko this late, I'm sure they wouldn't have grabbed Whitner at 8 overall.

5.134 Ryan O'Callaghan, OG California - Another big man to shore up the o-line

5.143 Brad Butler, OT Virginia - Should be better than Mike Williams

6.178 Babatunda Oshinowo, DT Stanford - another wide body to help with that run defense.

7.216 Fred Matua, OG USC - Willis McGahee looks like a better option now doesn't he?

7.248 Hank Baskett Jr, New Mexico - went undrafted, but his combo of size and speed makes him an intriguing prospect. Could challenge to start considering their lack of options.

umm...Trey Teague is a New York Jet. The Bills have Melvin Fowler and Duke Preston at Center this year.

Silver and Black...

1. Huff

2. Justice

3. Jon Alston

4. Ko Simpson

6. Kevin Boothe

7. Fred Matua

Mr. Irrelevant: Spencer Havner

UFA: DonTrelle Moore

I still can't believe they passed on Justice. Oh well, maybe the big tackle from Weber State will be better.

Their draft was okay, but it seems it could've been so much better.

Agreed. Williams is a very reliable WR and a hell of an exciting return man. He may not have the upside to be a pro-bowl receiver, but he needs little work and IMO was one of the more NFL ready WRs in this draft. He doesn't have the size people like, but he runs some very crisp routes, has extremely quick feet and makes some clutch plays. In the open field he can make people miss, but if you get a good hand on him he can come down easy.I think the 49ers got themselves a hell of a great pick in Williams, and he could easily come right in and be a solid #3 WR and return man for them. If you're looking for high upside and stud numbers look elsewhere, but if your looking for a consistant hard worker who is reliable, dependable and makes clutch plays you have your man.

For the Vikings :

1 17 17 Greenway, Chad OLB IOWA

2 16 48 Clemens, Kellen QB OREGON

2 19 51 Hodge, Abdul ILB IOWA

3 19 83 Jean-Gilles, Max G Georgia

3 31 95 Lowry, Calvin SS Penn State
