Hines Ward drills rookie LB Keith Rivers. (1 Viewer)

should move Ward to saftey....Guy just loves playing football.

He loves dishing out punishment as well, being a wr i can see why he loves to give a hit every now and then.

But that hit was legal. H.Ward and Boldin are 2 tuff SOB's

Totally clean block, watched it about 10 times on Tivo, welcome to the NFL rookie. :goodposting:

Good thing you're not playing in the NFL then! Because NFL players would not and should not show you the same mercy.Absolutely clean hit from Ward, and this is coming from a diehard Steelers hater.

Completely clean. Great block.

Keep your head on a swivel, rook.

P.S. I absolutely loathe Ward, and would happily pay a chunk of change to see him get popped like that.

Ditto, WR's that make blocks like that deserve medals.and I'm a Steeler hater too!

Is it clean?

YOu have go to be kidding me. WR's run down the field and leap in the air/arms up/looking back on pretty much every passing play.

Hines is a pretty good WR - definitely an overachiever. His blocking skills make him borderline HOF.

Yes - steelers homer.

I bet you ask all of the Ravens DB/S's. They may not like him - bu they want to know here he is on EVERY play.

I do not like to see injuries - even less so on dirty plays. But that was a clean block to help the RB get a few more yards.

Just like Ray Lewis probably said to Mendenhall - WELCOME TO THE NFL. WE PLAY FOR KEEPS.

Lowered his head and the crown of his helmet looks like it caught Rivers in the side of the head...helmet to helmet.

Its a tough play, but sorry, I'll bet he'll see a fine.

Solid block. Nothing to comlain about here.

I have heard that Ward is considered a dirty player by other players in the league, but I have never seen any evidence of it. He has a lot of grit. Rare quality for a WR unfortunitly.

As far as the fines I dont know if they are deserved or not. But I don't think that will change how Ward plays nor should it. The fines are meant to be re-enforcement of nuances of the rules so I am sure he is aware of what he can and cannot do.

Hate to see the kid get hurt, but that was an absolutely beautiful block by Ward. I love watching that guy (not that that guy) play football.

P.S. I absolutely loathe Ward, and would happily pay a chunk of change to see him get popped like that.
Do you loathe him for hits like this?Or his smile? Emotions? Being a Steeler?

Do you respect the level effort he puts forth?
I loathe the fact that after he won the Super Bowl he went to Korea and people thought it actually meant something. Maybe that was more of ESPN's fault. That entire episode was embarrassing though.

I don't think he's above taking cheap shots (tho again, this wasn't one), which is why I wouldn't mind seeing him get drilled. But I loathe him mostly because of that crap-eating grin, and he's a steeler. I absolutely respect his effort and ability. The guy's a stud. Too bad he wears those hideous colors...

Hines Ward is a cheap shot artist (consistently voted one of the dirtiest players in the NFL by his fellow players), but this was about as clean as it gets.

Bengals fan here. Looked pretty clean to me. Id still put money on him getting fined for the third time this year.

This is just an ignorant comment, you obviously know nothing about his life story, he didn't do it just to get some pub. :banned:

Saw it live...

Good stuff. But, the first thing that came to mind with his, and Troy's incidents over the past couple weeks was that the No Fun League might take offense.

Anyway, I love Hines' intensity and love for the game.

Ohh, I know about his life story. ESPN rammed it down my throat. And the only reason you have the opinion you have is becuase you are a Steelers fan. No big deal dude.

Most of us have that poster on ignore for a reason. Please do not quote it.

Easy sheriff.Lets keep to talking about the players and not the posters.

If you wanted to post some facts about his story, feel free. :)

 My feelings as well.Although I still hope he gets fined, he owes the NFL about 3 yrs salary for previous cheap shots.

Hey Sheriff - I don't want to start a fight. I just thought that stuff was lame. Hines Ward is a great WR. There should be more WRs like the guy. HOF, no doubt about it.

You realize his mom came here from Korea don't you? And that his focus in going there was on helping biracial kids? Kinda like he was a biracial kid?But you're right, it probably meant nothing.

Do others loathe Ward because of his trip to Korea and the publicity that followed the Super Bowl MVP?(I'm asking others)

Your uninformed, ignorant comment was a bit much for me, and you continue to call it lame, just stop.

I have a hard time not loathing him because of his SB MVP. Born and raised 'hawks fan who was 15 rows up for XL. I will pretty much hate all things steelers forever. That was a gorgeous block though. It made me giggle watching it. Didn't look at all dirty to me. If Ward wasn't a Steeler he'd be one of my favorite players in the league.

I missed the ESPN episode, but wish I didn't. Listen, I think Ward is a class act off the football field. :useless: (sorry I'm a Browns fan) He's also a credit to the team with his attitude and work ethic. :lmao: He brings a lot of intangibles to the football field. :lmao: I'm sorry, I just can't finish this...

If I ever knew about the trip, I've forgotten. Couldn't care less.

Maybe you shouldn't be wound so tight to care if some guy on the internet thinks a blown out of proportion deal on ESPN was stupid. :lmao:

In the NFL, you are more likely to get hurt when are not going full speed 100% of the time.

There are serious issues with the NFL if this brings a fine or suspension.

1) That was a GREAT block

2) WRs get hit like that EVERY Sunday while going over the middle and its deemed as fine, why can't the shoe be on the other foot?

3) If you don't want to be knocked on your ### by a WR, then keep your head on a swivel.

Well done sir, well done.

 Let's make this thread about the great block. :lmao:

If it was me I wouldn't decleat them. You could easily just block them without punishing them.
Good thing you're not playing in the NFL then! Because NFL players would not and should not show you the same mercy.Absolutely clean hit from Ward, and this is coming from a diehard Steelers hater.

I thought it was clean don't get me wrong but as an NFL player you have to realize the owners/fans don't care about you. Once football is done with in your life you are on your own unless you have family. The only people that really understand this are other players and with that in mind maybe they should look out for each other a little more. Again, I am not saying don't tackle or hit someone hard. I just think unneccessary shots like this one and the one on Boldin could have been avioded. In the end it was a great block in the sense that the player that was blocked could not make the tackle afterwards so if you base his actions strictly on results maybe Ward should just continue laying people out, week afer week.

Not to hijack, but maybe their union should help support retired players, rather than giving them the proverbial finger.

Even as a Bengals fan I don't really have a problem with that play. Still, Hines Ward has the reputation he has for a reason and should expect to be unfairly judged because of prior plays.
