Hines Ward vs Santonio Holmes (1 Viewer)

Since Hines Ward is coming back this week, who do you think will be the #1 fantasy producer going forward? A person in my league has both receivers and I'm considering making an offer for one. However, I've been debating which one will be more productive. I think that Ward will get more receptions and red zone looks, but Holmes can make a big play anytime. Are they equal or is one superior?

I personally give the slight edge to Holmes. Only due to the fact that Ward hasnt played much this season.

Add that to the fact that Ward will be drawing the top corner. I like Homles, but only by a little.

this is coming from a Ward Owner, so I hope someone slaps some sense into me here...

Assuming both are healthy I would expect Ward to get more receptions and more targets in the red zone. Holmes will be the deep threat and get more yards.

In a dynasty league i guess it would be santonio, right? I am interested in this too, as I may make a play for one of em too.

He isn't a rookie - I don't think the bolded will have anything to do with it.

assuming everyone stays healthy...

i predict holmes will average slightly more

ward will be more consistent (7/70) but holmes will have much bigger games and prone to more busts

I understand that, I am more concerned with the new scheme being run. Not sure what his true role will be yet. It seems like the Redzone is going to be TE friendly. Davenport and Parker are still running well. Holmes is the deep threat. Leaving Ward that 10-15 yard zone where he should be able to produce solid 5-6 catches for 60-80 yard days, but I just dont see the TDs coming as much this season.again hopefully I am wrong

Is Holmes playing?
October 16, 2007, 14:12Steelers :: WR, DL, DBSteelers injury Update; Three Starters ReturnEd Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post Gazette - [Full Article]Steelers HC Mike Tomlin said WR Hines Ward, WR Santonio Holmes and SS Troy Polamalu will all return to the starting lineup this Sunday at Denver. He also said he is hopeful NT Casey Hampton can return from a hamstring injury and that CB Bryant McFadden is doubtful with an ankle sprain.

IMO it's Ward/Burress version 2.0. Ward will get more targets and catches. Holmes will get more big plays, but be less consistent week-to-week.

The demise of Hines Ward has been greatly exaggerated. And I say this as a guy who owns Holmes on both of his PPR dynasty teams.

I love the fact that fanball still shows Ward as out. I just got him from the an owner in my league that needed a QB because of injuries and Fave's bye. cost me Culpepper.

Holmes- hands down.

This was apparent to me prior to the draft. Tomlin came in wanting to open up this offense a little more and throw the ball down the field. That's where you'll find Holmes. Ward works the underneath stuff, and his age is beginning to show.

Ward in PPR, Holmes in non-PPR. And obviously Holmes in dynasty.

I like Holmes, but that's been true since before the start of the season.

Ward will still be productive, and he might come at a cheap price in trades right now.

I think both are top tier #3 starters, and I think Holmes has a great chance to perform like a solid #2. Partially depending on Baily's health the going through the air may be tough this week, but going forward I like the Steelers passing game to be very productive.

That was the talk, but has it really happened? Roethlisberger is averaging a little over 26 attempts and 200 yards a game to this point. Last year he averaged 31+ attempts and 235 yards per game. I suppose this could be largely because they've had some pretty lopsided wins, and it could change as the season goes along, but so far I haven't seen it.

I am a little concerned about Holmes hammy problem.
Me too! This seems to have been glossed over.
:goodposting: 'Cause he's practicing.

that is exactly what happened . . . under Arians, they are last in sitting on the ball with a lead (32nd in % of pass plays called when ahead in the 2nd half) . . .

I can't wait to see the two games against the Bengals and the game against the Patriots. Get your Steelers in your lineup for those weeks, because there could be major fireworks. As a multi-league Roethlisberger owner, I kind of wish he played on a horrible team so he could throw the ball 35 times every week like Palmer or Kitna.
