He's underrated if anything. Injuries happen to everyone. He's still a good player with plenty left in the tank.
When healthy, yes. Ward has never been a top 5 WR by any means, but he has been a very good and reliable WR for many years.Ward is underated in NFL circles.Ward is overated in Fantasy circles.
Yes, he is.
Obviously you mean except for when he finished WR3 (2002), and followed it up the next year by finishing WR6 (2003).When healthy, yes. Ward has never been a top 5 WR by any means, but he has been a very good and reliable WR for many years.Ward is underated in NFL circles.
Ward is overated in Fantasy circles.
Whuuuuuuuuuuuuu? 112 receptions 1300+ yards and 12 TDs isn't Top 5?how about Top 3 in 2002.When healthy, yes. Ward has never been a top 5 WR by any means, but he has been a very good and reliable WR for many years.Ward is underated in NFL circles.
Ward is overated in Fantasy circles.
The issue isn't going back to his old numbers, nobody believes that. It's about where he is now -- current value.I believe he is undervalued.Hines Ward is a stud. However, he is old and injured. Not really worth looking any further into it than that. Even if healthy, he isn't going to put up the kind of numbers that he used to. However, he is a solid guy to use on a bye week.
VeryWard is awesome and generally underrated.Look who his QBs have been and the offensive systems he has played in under Cowher compared to some of the other "elite" WRs around the league.
He's only 31. That's not really that old for a WR these days. He should have 3-4 good years left.Hines Ward is a stud. However, he is old and injured. Fantasy or NFL?Frankly, Ward should outproduce Henry in pretty much any fantasy leagues I'd think going forward, I'd take him over Henry in all formats. For actual NFL value, it's not close.I wouldnt trade Chris Henry for Hines Ward, let alone Housh or Johnson

Hines started last year with an injury and still was the 16th rated WR in standard scoring leagues and a few spots higher in PPR leagues. For this year I agree with points 1 and 2 listed above, not so much point 3. Hines had his best years with Plax on the other side and I think Holmes helps him the same way. Miller and the sudden use of the TE could hamper Hines red zone looks but he got plenty the first few weeks.Good info about Hines past matchups with Champ but I'm wondering if Champ would primarily cover Hines or Holmes. Either way, I'm starting Hines this weekend.Ward won't be the FF WR he was 3-4 years ago but he is a serviceable WR2 and an excellent WR3 the rest of the way. He's been off the radar this season this year for three reasons:1) He got hurt mid-way through the Steelers 3rd game of the year against San Fran and missed games against AZ and SEA.2) In the 3 games he played the Steelers outscored their opponents 97-26. For the most part the Steelers took the air out of the ball in the second half of those games.3) The Steelers (finally) have other options in their passing game, most notably Santonio Holmes and Heath Miller.I still think Ward will be their best WR for the remainder of the season and I don't anticipate as many blowout victories. He will have a tough match-up this week against Champ Bailey but Hines handled him well last year (7 recepts for 127 yards) and in the AFC Championship two years ago (5 recepts for 59 yards, 1 TD). Start him if you've got him.
He didn't drop a pass... It was high and went off his finger tops as he was jumping as high as he could to catch it. Then he was smiling with his QB who was saying "my bad man". Hines went up over the middle to get a bad pass and get laid out, and you say he is lame for lauging? Give me a break.Anyone else catch Hines smiling and clapping after dropping a pass in the first quarter? I think it happened at least twice.![]()
Ward always has a smile on his face... I had no problem with how he handled the dropped pass (one was defected before it got to him, but he dropped an easy catch for a first down on the Steelers 2nd posession).pitbull said:Anyone else catch Hines smiling and clapping after dropping a pass in the first quarter? Hit him hard and he will only smile more. He likes it.Yes, I noticed that. Somebody needs to smack that guy upside the head and tell him to wipe that friggin smile off his face. The way he is playing this year, he's got NOTHING to smile about!
What do you want him to do, cry and then bench himself ?pitbull said:Anyone else catch Hines smiling and clapping after dropping a pass in the first quarter? I think it happened at least twice.![]()
