HOF game '24 (1 Viewer)

I know I'm going to quickly get tired of seeing 3rd and 4th stringers and beyond. But still excited to see the game even if just for what it portends is coming in the next month.

I feel like these kickoff rules are a disaster waiting to happen. Like, the whole point of changing the initial rules was player safety, and this sounds like a great way to have some major injuries, and penalties should be plentiful.

Two Texans starters, or potential ones, playing on the offensive line. Kenyon Green at LG and Juice Scruggs at center.

I thought Pierce was going to see a lot of action?? I doubt he comes in later as the game moves along. I was thinking maybe they wanted to showcase him for a trade.

Penalty on the kickoff... Bears didn't have 7 players with a foot on the line as required. Have to have 7 on the line. Anyone else not on the line (not counting 1-2 returners) have to be outside the hash marks.

Unless some of the guys further down the depth chart really show up, I don't know they have the depth at RB to be trading him away. Mixon still hasn't practiced in camp yet with undisclosed injury.
Thanks for the Mixon update

WRs Xavier Hutchinson, John Metchie, and Ben Skowronek are some of the Texans receivers competing for spots.

Square peg round hole with Pierce, Akers and others looking good.

Yeah, Pierce didn't adjust well to the scheme last year. There have been some positive comments about him in camp this year that he's doing better that I heard early on. Haven't heard as much since.

Pierce did give an interview where he said all the right stuff, put it on himself and that he needs to do better. Including in blitz pickup. Whether he manages to do that then still remains to be seen.

Agree on Akers, he's had a nice night. Not just the line but making some things happen and finding the hole on that first first down he had.

The new kick off rules are beyond dumb.
Word...I have no idea what they are doing
Kick it between the 20 and the goal line or they come out the 30?
The NFL of late has been changing the rules far too much

I've gotten over the hitting with the crown of the helmet that put Ronnie Lott in the Hall of Fame, and others
Then they came for the Edge rushers and DL and now you can't even touch the QB, they get flagged for sacking them
I'd love to see a DL that just pancakes them, even if the QB has the ball and takes the sack, I'm pretty sure if you pancake 'em you're getting flagged
I remember Brady in a Bucs uni drawing a flag on a sack, think it was Atlanta, the DL all but cradled him to the ground and still flagged

They've made a mockery out of a lot of things that draw fans into the sport and yet we still watch, it's painful to have an addiction
