Chicago sun times reporting the lockout has claimed it's first ( hopefully last) victim. Not official but it will be soon.
I dispute that too. It's not that late yet, if they settl this week there is still time.'Couch Potato said:League office disputes that.http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/43777550/ns/sports-player_news/
Not going to say it IS a big deal, but the NFL does usually promote the HOF game and some game in Europe or Mexico or ...each summer as if it is a big deal.If they(not you) were to say it, it'd bug me. Aren't there usually some special events at halftime of this HOF game? Something with the inductees or those nominated for the next year? If so it's not super significant to miss and they can do that at any game, but ....No big deal either way if that game is played
I think Jason is an excellent reporter but if I roll with what you're saying- The Sun Times' sources claimed that players simply haven't had enough organized activities to be prepared for an exhibition game so soon. In reality, the starters don't play more than a couple of series in the Hall of Fame game. What do you think of the above paraphrase by NBC?I think there's holes in that. Even if the starters barely played, the young guys and scrubs aren't going to know the playbook much at all. How would they be prepared?ETA which two teams play in this game?'JuSt CuZ said:Some reporter trying to start a rumor, I believe, its all a hunch according to the report.Ahhhh, gotta love the MSM.
It would have a huge impact on the city of Canton, it's hotels, the stadium and other businesses that will not get the dollars coming in that they get every year. The HOF ceremony will go on, but that does not bring in the amount of people and they are not there as long when there is the enshrinement and the game.No big deal either way if that game is played

My guess is that the HOF ceremony is why people attend those things. It would have a huge impact on the city of Canton, it's hotels, the stadium and other businesses that will not get the dollars coming in that they get every year. The lockout is virtually over. barring something crazy happening, no preseason games are even in danger of being missed except the hof game. It's unlikely our will be missed. The nfl doesn't care if the teams are ready, they want to get a game on prime time tv to make money. I doubr they cancel the game.By the way, the 18 game schedule is dead. The new cba will have a clause in it that allows the 18 game schedule to be reevaluated in the future, but it will require nflpa approval. This is being reported in the Chicago media by valid sources as a situation that is more than likely to happen. I have not heard anyone say that the game is cancelled. However, I can see this game and half the pre-season games being cancelled but I think that the season will be played on time. This week is going to be a big week. The missing games MIGHT just be the way the owners push the 18 game schedule for 2012 by stating that the teams missed playing half their pre-season games in 2011 and yet the season went forward and become one of the more entertaining and profitable seasons in the history of the NFL. IE- the owners will spin it in their favor while minimizing the impact of the damage to the fans. One of the reasons why you are seeing new rules such as the new kickoff rule (which in my opinion is a terrible rule) is the owners are trying to cut down on injury potentials in order to expand that schedule. Get used to more and more of these type of rule changes...
Thanks for the info. As a season ticket holder, I'm hoping more preseason games are cancelled.
