home field advantage rule idea (1 Viewer)

A spin on the flex position...

After draft/auction (and before schedule is established) each owner decides the offense their team plays.

Options are:

QB RB RB WR WR TE K Def -- pro set

QB RB RB WR WR WR K Def -- trips

QB RB RB RB WR TE K Def -- wishbone

QB RB RB WR TE TE K Def -- jumbo

QB RB RB WR TE K Def Def -- defensive

The visiting team must follow the home team's lineup structure. I think this would provide a true home-field-advantage and would add some character to each team.

A team should only be able to adjust their offense type once -- immediately prior to the playoffs.

Interesting. I'd add the Run N' Shoot.

QB RB WR WR WR WR K Def

I also would let a team adjust their offense as often as they like, although that's just a personal preference.

We have the 1 RB, 4 WR set available. Also I brought up the +3 rule for home field advantage and was voted down in my league. What's 3 points right? :banned:

I really like that idea. It's always bothered me that the higher seed in the playoffs doesn't get any advantage at all in FF.

I like the idea  . I think it's much better than simply giving a 2-4 pt advantage to the home team. I would even go as far as asking the home team to pick which option they will use on each Wednesday before each week. That increases the skill aspect of the league.

One comment however: I think the TE should always be available, because I would not want a stud like Gates on the bench half the time when his team is on the road. If your league allows TEs to play the WR position, then ok.

I really like the idea in theory but this would be a headache for me as commissioner to police. We have a few guys that are lucky if they can submit a valid lineup as it is.

Doesn't do anything for me but it is different.Another idea that I probably will never do but could be interesting would be that your opponent picks your lineup. In this case, depth is everything. Would make drafts, esp auction drafts, really interesting......

Plus you'd have realistic scores. :)

As for home field advantage, we just give 2 pts for it. Much simpler.

I don't like giving a team points just for a hypothetical HFA. If you outscore a team with your players you should never get a loss. If anything, I would just say that Home Field gets the win in case of a tie.

I really like the idea but one of the problems I see with it is many teams in my league like to submit their lineup at the last possible second(based on injury-info from pregame shows sunday morning) so that may also cause a problem if the visitor is forced to matchup with the home team. Either the home team won't be able to have as much flexibility to adjust his lineup at the last second like he's accustomed to doing or the visitor will be forced to adjust his lineup on very short notice before the game and plenty of people have a life on the weekends and can't be near a computer every sunday morning.

I'm gonna say no.

This is basically a hop skip and jump away from the higher seed picking the players of his opponent.
I agree and that's why I would limit adjustments to at most mid-season and end of regular season. You should pick based on your players not your opponents.
