How many times has the host team of a city having the Super Bowl actually played in that game? ie, say the Dolphins were in the Bowl this year in Miami.

0.Super Bowl XIX was the closest, when the 49ers played at Stanford Stadium against the Dolphins, which is 30 miles away from Candlestick Park.

What about Super Bowl XIV, with the tehn-L.A. Rams playing in Pasadena?

Many Terrible Towels were in evidence at the Rose Bowl during this Super Bowl, although the game was being played just 18 miles from the Rams' home stadium, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

That's the one I was thinking of too. It sounds like they haven't had one in a home stadium, but in the home town they've had two, 49'ers @ Stanford and the Rams @ Rose Bowl.

Next year will end this drought!

Adrian Wilson=Best Saftey in the NFL. Most people don't even know his name!

That's a good one. According to google maps, it's actually only 15 miles away.FWIW the Rams played their last game in the Coliseum before that Super Bowl, and began playing at Anaheim Stadium in 1980, 40 miles away from the Rose Bowl.

Maybe this makes the Steelers performance against the 9-7 Rams more impressive?

:hot: If my 8 year-old niece qualifies as "most people".... then I agree.

However, most football fans absolutely know about him.
Not sure if this has been posted before, but speaking of Adrian Wilson:

The most likely chance of this ever happenning is the dolphins, and it has come close once or twice. 2010 is the next chance for this to happen for Miami
