Housh to stay in Cincy? (1 Viewer)

I think this is the same outfit that reported that a gigantic contract extension between Eli and the Giants was imminent with only vague and unnamed sources cited as well.

Not a great track record of success.

I'm not going to weigh in on the veracity of this particular news item, but as a guy who takes math and statistical analysis seriously, I always cringe at the arbitrary application of probabilities in news items like this. How can a team "close to signing Housh" have a "70% chance" of retaining his services? I would like to see the probability tree that rolled up into a 70% outcome.

Take with a grain of salt.... but I just heard on sports talk in the Nati, that Housh hasn't talked to his agent all day.. and that if they were so close to a deal, that he would have heard from his agent.... He also said that if they (Bengals) want to be fair about it, he would listen.

that's all for now....

All rumor mongers have the same type of misses. You name the site or the NFL "insider" there has been an embarrassing miss. Take anything under the category of rumor for what it is worth.

True, but knowing the source or at least who is reporting the rumor is helpful. For instance the Eli contract rumor was reported by these guys and then refuted by Mike Garofalo of the Newark Star-Ledger and as I Giants fan, I know the Garofalo is a pretty good source for "good" rumors on Giants happenings.I would guess that overall local beat reporters have a better "hit ratio" then national publications on rumors.

 There is a 90% chance that you are correct. on this rumor. I just can't believe that they could possibly convince T.J. to come back for less than what the market will bear. That inludes playoff wins.
