Houston Ravens game postponed (1 Viewer)

North

Kind of feel the Ravens won't be getting a true bye even though they have off this week. This is good for McGahee owners b/c he now gets an extra week of rest but not good b/c the bye is so early.

Sorry guys, didn't see the other postings on this. NFL network made it seems as if it's just cancelled for this week. Would make more sense to move to a neutral site.

Someone in another thread mentioned this might end up being a case of switching Cinci's bye week (to week 10 I think) So these teams can play each other then.

Not that anyone cares, but in a wierd way this solved my bye week QB problem.

If they do have their bye weeks this week it's kind of unfair to both teams as it screws up their normal bye week routine. During bye weeks players get extra rest but this week both teams have been preparing to play all week so they really didn't get the rest they would normally get.

Very true, but IF they can't get the game in by Monday night, what other options does the NFL have?

There is a great quote about life that I heard that fits life perfectly...."Life is not fair"That said, in a situation like this, there may not be any other choice (unless they want to play two games in one week) so that is the way it is if they can't find another venue to play in on Monday.

They're stupid for not moving it in the first place. They should have played the game at a neutral site on Monday night like they did a couple of years ago when there were wildfires and the game had to be moved. They gave away tickets and raised money for wildfire victims, it was a win-win for everyone. This time they botched it big time! I'm sure they could have found a stadium somewhere to accomodate the game.

so should the texans just forfeit?there's a hurricane, S happens

I have no link or source but I can tell you that on Friday Atlanta was being mentioned on all of the local radio sports talk here in Baltimore as a possible site. Not sure where they were getting the info from either, or if they were just guessing.

How about New Orleans as a free game makeup for the game they lost to NYC post Katrina.

It would be a nice thank you gift.

I'm thinking the biggest concern is NFL level infrastructure as far as doing a television broadcast.

The Houston Chronicle is reporting that the Texans' Reliant Stadium is in no condition to host an NFL game Monday night. The stadium may have even sustained enough damage from hurricane Ike that it won't be usable for several weeks. It's not clear yet whether the game will be moved to another site or postponed to a later date. The NFL will likely make a determination Saturday. The Texans bye week (Oct. 26) is a possibility. Word in Baltimore is that the Bye week shuffle is on.

Ravens to play Texans on what had been Baltimore's bye. Texans-Bengals game gets moved to the week that had been the bye for both of them.

Hacked the Texans web site:

This page hasn't been posted yet, and there's no text in it, but the header says: Texans-Ravens game rescheduled again

Looks like the Bye week shuffle is on

As an off-topic aside, this coverage is fantastic, much better than CNN or Fox News, and this lead anchor is very impressive. Opinionated and a veteran of Houston, really digging this, thanks so much for that link.

Hope these poor folks get things back together, but it looks like the town took a gutshot.

I am shocked no one has mentioned this yet. But I am guessing this means we cannot start any Houston or Ravens player/D this week right? No way yahoo or anyone adjusts the scoring later right?

And then when they do play the game, will that team play 2 games in one week? What will we do then? Start Andre Johnson 2 times in one week?

:sadbanana:

I don't think the NFL would make teams play twice in one week.

Where exactly are you getting "the bye week shuffle is on" from an empty page link that simply contains the header "Texans-Ravens game rescheduled again"? The game is obviously being rescheduled. We already know that.

ESPN ticker just reported this as official.

Nice to see leagues won't have to implement any name your alternate / retroactive scoring adjustments / etc.

As of now, if you start any Ravens or Texans, tough luck.

I'm guessing 20% of leagues will have disgruntled owners complaining because they set their lineups on Friday, etc.

Per Mort - Bal-Hou game moved to Nov. 9. Cin-Hou game moved from Nov 9 to Oct. 26.
Feel sorry for Balt. they have to play three away games in a row and the last one on Nov 16 is against the NYG.No doubt NYG will win that one Balt. be too tired.
Not a picnic for Houston as they now open the year with 3 road games with the most winnable game moved. Also, not sure if they are going to have to play at an alternate site versus their real home stadium.
