With Earl hurt, Brown has been getting a lot of reps.

Houston Chronicle
This one caught my eye too. I really didn't expect a challenge to Earl. I'll be ready to flop earl with Brown as soon as the call is made...probably after Saturday.

Let's hope he doesn't get "activated" and sent overseas. He's still in the reserves and they were talking about the possibility of that happening on NFL Total Access. He's looked pretty good in preseason action so far.

Any update on Earl vs Brown?
In the game against the Bucs, Brown had 5 tackles and Earl had one. Four of Brown's came in the 1st half, and Earl's lone tackle came just before halftime. I'm not sure if this means that Brown is the starter or they're just protecting Earl in the preseason.

Texans | Brown Named Starter at SS

Fri, 2 Sep 2005 19:49:26 -0700

Nick Schenck, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans head coach Dom Capers has named SS C.C. Brown the opening day starter at strong safety. "It means a lot," Brown said. "The only thing I hope doesn't happen is that I let (Capers) down. That would be a big mistake. But if I just go out there and play hard, I'll do fine."

Wow! thanks for the info.

for what it is worth, both are similiar players being stronger against the run than pass, but the Texans do not play the SS in the box a ton so the tackle totals should be modest to good for either guy, but not spectacular. From hints and stuff around the boards, CC Brown may have a better chance at playing pro FS than Earl as Brown apparently picked up both position this off season.
