Houston TE James Casey (1 Viewer)

Sounds like the Texans want to get Casey more involved the rest of the season. I know he's been hurt and he obviously wasn't need when Daniels was healthy but I'm wondering what the word is about him from Texans' fans and those in the know.

Thoughts about him? Will he have any fantasy relevance the rest of this season?

I am a desperate OD owner who has nothing left but Fred Davis, Pettigrew, Scheffler, Haynos, etc. Ya sure I could easily add Davis but that's not fun. I am picking up James Casey to be my break out blow up super awesome TE of the year to finish the season and take me to the championship. I was screwed over by the commish of the league on trading for Antonio Gates so now I am looking to be the genious who adds the break out of the year to SHOVE IT UP HIS ###! LET'S DO IT CASEY! CASEYSHOOOOWWWW!

I have lost Cooley and Owens..I will ride the Casey train. Is he going to be the full time guy?

Caught over 100 passes and functioned as Rice's goal line QB (6 rushing, 2 passing TDs) last year as a sophomore. A bit older than a typical rookie because of a baseball career (24 when he came out I think)

Soft hands, good routes, tough runner after the catch and not afraid to work the middle of the field and take hits.

I think he could be as good as Daniels or better... in time. Not sure about how he'll do pushed into action so early in his career, but I love the talent.

I'm with him.

He missed the Indy game b/c he had a scope or something on his knee. He looked a bit awkward in the Buffalo game (he slipped and fell twice), but we found out after the game he had the knee problem. From what I've heard he's hoping to be able to play Monday Night. Dreessen will start for now, and we also have fellow rookie Anthony Hill, who is reported to be a terrific blocker. He also looked like he was an adequate receiver in the Indy game to me.

I think Casey could be a force but his health coupled with two other competent TEs could limit him. When I saw him in person at training camp you could see he was fast, knew how to get open, and had soft hands. He looked plenty capable of doing (in time with experience, of course) everything Daniels does as a receiver. Hopefully he'll get over this knee thing b/c when I saw him in TC I thought he looked like Daniels' replacement next year after free agency...

Casey is probably the only TE with huge upside. Don't you think? His schedule isn't bad too. Owners of Cooley and Daniels should probably look his way. A safer bet might be Fred Davis though (until Cooley comes back).

I'm tempted to take a flyer. Hasn't Jacoby Jones missed a couple practices this week, even after a bye? That could be a factor as well if he's out.

He's still a FA in my league, I already have Dallas Clark. Would he be worth a pickup and starting in the flex W/T spot?

Right now I am stuck with Lewis from Jax and he has had some off weeks as of late. There is not much in the FA pool so I may take a flyer on Casey. Can`t be any worse than Lewis.

Just went and picked up Casey as insurance for T. Gonzalez. He has been on my radar for weeks now and I'm actually a little surprised he hasn't been picked up yet. The owner of Daniels hasn't even put him on IR yet and is rolling with Celek. I am hoping for a little security and I feel he might be able to do as good a job as Daniels. :fishing:

Im putting in my lineup this week in 2 of my dynastys. Nothing earth shattering but im starting him over Sheffler in one league and maybe over Pettigrew in another.

Dude looked smooth in preaseason.

ESPN projects him scoring 0 points and im rolling him out over Boss, Pettigrew, Scheffler, Fred Davis. No guts no glory baby! I AM GOING TO SHOVE IT IN MY LEAGUE MATES FACES AFTER THIS WEEK! O YA!!

That's where I'm at too. My league carries 2 TEs and I have Celek and Cooley and picked up Scaife when Cooley got hurt. I'm waiting until Monday to hear about Cooley (I'm expecting him to be put on IR) and if he goes on IR than I'll be looking at Casey. Scaife has been worthless and he's by far better than anybody available on the WW so why not take a shot with Casey? The only bad thing is his game is on MNF this week and if he does well he won't be flying under the radar anymore.

if Scaife does well on MNF and someone actually drops a TE worth a darn to pick him up, you win. You should leave him out there so someone can make that move.

I agree. I see no value to Scaife right now. Young isn't throwing to him and the Titans' passing game is extremely limited to protect Young. Scaife's a non-factor. That's why Casey has me intrigued. I can't bring myself to pick him up just yet because I want to wait on Cooley but if Kubiak can be trusted, Casey's role is going to increase, perhaps as soon as Monday night.

This kid is a great pass catching TE. With Daniels gone, someone has to pick up the slack. I thought it would be Walter, but he didn't perform all that well in the first week w/o Daniels.

Daniels is unlikely to be signed by the Texans this offseason and will be a free agent. Daniels is a solid pass catching TE prospect and should be the starter in Houston long-term. He's a great dynasty pickup/buy right now.

He did get 67 yards right? I didn't think Walter did too bad considering. But I do hope Casey brings it because that would be a huge pickup for me.

i agree with Plattons. I was already picking him up where others dropped him long before the OD injury...he was dropped in another league after they said he was injured as well....I was thinking long term the whole time, i think he the future at te for the texans. Kubes raved about him in the preseason/tc.

Yes, 5 rec. for 67 yds. That was off of the same number of targets he saw when Daniels was healthy, though, which is not what was expected.

Casey's healthy.

Rookie tight end James Casey, who had arthroscopic knee surgery after the Buffalo game, appears to be fully recovered already. He participated fully in Thursday’s practice.

“He didn’t miss anything today,” Kubiak said. “There have been no setbacks. He’s done a heckuva job to get back that fast.”

Just curious......why is everyone so high on Casey with almost no mention of Joel Dreessen? Dreessen is listed as #1 on the depth chart, he's got more experience, and he's not coming off an injury like Casey is.

 Seems like Dreessen is the logical choice here.

Dressen is in there to block. Daniels is in a contract year, therefore, the Texans probably want to see what they have in Casey and groom him to possibly replace Daniels.

As much as I'd love to insert him in my lineup this week (over Keller).........I've just got to get a look at him first on Monday night and see how/when he's being used.

Ditto. I think it would take some incredible stones to start him this week. I want to see how involved he is.

Picked him up 2 weeks ago when Daniels went down. Thinking about starting him this week over Witten whom I traded for.

My league starts two TEs..If I wait and he goes off there is no way I get Casey in our drop add system.

I already know what Hyndai Lewis brings to the table.

Just traded for Winslow, off the Casey train. Have a good ride fellas, I enjoyed it while it lasted, for 2 days.
 Did anyone else get a kick out of this?

Thoughts for his MNF debut?

He's on my bench but I picked him up this week knowing I might get to see him in action tonight.

I got him in my lineup (albeit i already won my match) but it shows how much faith i have in him and our system.

Hopefully he connects with Schaub like they was in TC/Preseason.

He looked pretty good IMO. He ran his routes the way Daniels would've; and I think the Texans are going to figure out in the next few weeks how to use him more.

He would've had more than 33 yards if he wasn't defended so closely by Bullock on one play. Overall, he's got the highest upside of most TEs that would be available in a league.

Most likely that would be the case. The positive thing for me was he was on the field A TON. He didn't have a huge game but I wasn't expecting that in his first game back from an injury. But he played a lot of snaps, was targeted a few times and looked good on his receptions. He's definitely worth picking up now in my opinion if you want a TE2 with some upside.

Casey looks like he has good upside. Looks fast and athletic, hard to tell how much he can do after last nights game. Dreissen was in for half the reps.

Really hoping everything clicks before that Rams game late in the year. Could be a nice TE spot start in your fantasy playoffs if you need a HR threat. STL can't cover TE's if I remember correctly.
