No problem. If everyone else is like me, we're so shell shocked by the way this season is going it's hard to get enthused about much involving the Texans right now.Sorry, for not updating as much guys. I am having one of those periods where life is pretty insistent on interfering with the things I like to do.
Yeah, so far he hasn't looked too good. I thought he maybe looked better in the game in Indy, at least then he seemed to be in decent position when the ball went his way.Chronicle has an article talking to Darrell Green about him, and Green talking about how he struggled starting out too. I'm sort of, eh about that. I mean, I'm not writing the guy off in his rookie season. But it also isn't a good thing that he's struggled this much. While you may have hall of fame players who struggled early too, you also have most busts who did as well.FWIW (read: nothing), Mike Pereira believed the Foster TD reception should have counted: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Austin-...e-Week-9-110710
Hasn't been much talk about it here, but is anyone else pulling out their hair watching Kareem Jackson get beat week after week? He's far from the only problem he's been made to look like he's playing the wrong sport on a bunch of big TDs. SD was especially bad because he got lit up by a 5th string receiver.
He seems to occasionally be having a safety roll over and help him out but it's just not enough. Tutu's out and up last week was like a microcosm for his season; couldn't believe how badly he bit on that.
Not a waiver claim obviously but it's been reported that they pushed hard for Harris. He just wanted to go home and play in Miami (where he's from).Texans claim Jason Allen off waivers from Dolphins:

I wondered if the Texans would put in a claim for Al Harris, however unlikely. Interested to see how Allen fits in.
Well, at least this shows us that Kubiak acknowledges he can't solve all the team's defensive woes from "within the organization..."Texans claim Jason Allen off waivers from Dolphins:

The Texans will obviously regret some of their performance in the first half of the season, but I think they will at least make it interesting the rest of the way...I'm been very unimpressed with Jackson myself but what have paying Dunta done for us? He sucked in coverage last year and so far this year he had 0 ints, 0 sacks, 0 FF, and is averaging 2.9 tackles a game. We can get that out of Jackson. Reeves hasnt turned up on anyone else's roster this year so it looks like the rest of the league saw the same thing in him that the Texans did. The problem with Jackson is we have no veteran corners around him, just more rookies. I wish we would have offered Bodden more money in the offseason.MrTwo94 said:I've been out of town this week so I haven't heard anything on the radio about this so can someone explain to me why we didn't put a claim on Harris? We didn't want to pay his contract? It sure looks like we should've paid Dunta. Also, I know Reeves wasn't good, but I never heard why we exactly we released him. One has to think he would've been better than Jackson so far this year. I mean, who couldn't have played better? Ugh... This season has been extremely disappointing. I guess we should've seen it coming. We needed a FS and DT and didn't address those positions and it's resulted in our rookie being picked on.Nate said:Texans claim Jason Allen off waivers from Dolphins:

3 million dollars, 35 year old CB coming of a major knee injury. The rest of the league passed on that too. If Lance Z. is correct Houston did call Harris after he cleared waivers, but Harris wanted to play closer to his home in Florida.MrTwo94 said:I've been out of town this week so I haven't heard anything on the radio about this so can someone explain to me why we didn't put a claim on Harris? Because the running game is working too well to be throwing the ball around in risky situations. Our defense is too terrible to be risking a turnover. If you saw games last year, alot of Schaub's picks come when he tries to force the ball to Andre.Allen is too inconsistent, I saw him play almost every game this year. You guys are better off with the rookie at least he got way more upside. I don't understand why texans doesn't force the ball to AJ more like Rayan to white and Eli to Hickeem. AJ is a Much bigger beast than any of those WRs, and Schaub is a better QB. Maybe AJ is more injured than the team would like to admit, what do you homers think?
AJ's hurt for sure but I really don't think the problem is not getting the ball in Johnson's hands enough. The D's been giving up huge, game-shifting plays regularly (much like last season), the OL has looked shaky at times since Brown's suspension, and there's been this inexplicable hesitancy to just run the ball sometimes.Allen is too inconsistent, I saw him play almost every game this year. Absolutely - should have clarified that.I would say the pass protection has been shaky at times, but the run blocking has been rather excellent.
Houston trades:1st, 2nd, 3rdFor the 2nd pick the draft:Houston drafts Patrick Peterson.Really?

Which makes three weeks of pissing away games hurt more.As rough as this season has been ... if my math is correct, Texans are only one game back in the divisionIND 6-5JAC 6-5HOU 5-6TEN 5-6

They'll have to earn it with the schedule coming up these next couple of weeks ...yep 3 games we lost in dramatic fashion, if we win only that jacksonville game, we are in 1st right now. Cursed I tell you. Its the only logical explanation.coolnerd said:Which makes three weeks of pissing away games hurt more.Boulder Toads said:As rough as this season has been ... if my math is correct, Texans are only one game back in the divisionIND 6-5JAC 6-5HOU 5-6TEN 5-6
Only the 2nd time in our short history and against the hated Titans no less. Obviously we got lucky playing against a 3rd string QB making his 1st start, but Fisher didn't help him much at all with his play calling or his WR's with their drops. How does Chris Johnson only get 7 carries for 5 yards!?!?!?Can't be too confident with the Eagles coming up on Thursday and the possibility of no AJ, but that was a needed shot in the arm for a team trying to keep it's slim playoff hopes alive.Nate said:A shutout? Really??
1) don't really know..I suspect Daniels but there are indications either way2) I hope not...kinda just a guy3) has only flashed and can't get Dressen off the field4) I am assuming it is easier to do so after an injury and meh year, but I thought that with Dunta too (Btw, if my memory is working he has the same agents)Who's gonna be the starting TE on this team next year? Dreessen? Or has James Casey looked good? Will Owen Daniels get resigned?
Think this a terrible match-up for Houston. The two biggest weakness are deep pass coverage and maintaining gap discipline on defense (play-action and counters and bootlags have killed us for the most part). As an Eagles fan, I would like to ask...How do you think that you match up this week against us?I think that your defense, while having quite a few flaws, is athletic and could use the same plan that has been used the last 2 weeks to stifle Vick. Your offense is generally not a problem, but as great as Foster has been, I think that AJ needs to get more involved in the game early. They seem to want to try to run the ball and then play catch-up if needed at the end. So I ask this question, as I think it is relavant for both Houston and Cinncinnati, if your offense is high powered, and you defense struggles, why try for a low scoring affair? Why not air it out early, get a lead, and then rely on Foster to bring it home for you, rather than the other way around? I am worried about this week, as our defense has struggled with big, physical WRs. But if the Texans try to pound the ball rather than use their size, I think that the Eagles will get a lead, at which point their defense will become a factor, because that is what they are built for. To me, they are quite similar teams, it is just how they are being used.
Haven't really heard many grumblings about Kubiak losing his job, even though he's a no-brainer for the hot seat. Got a feeling he'll be back. And as a Foster keeper owner I've been watching the Texans closely the last year and a half. Their offensive personnel seem geared towards the system Kubiak runs. I doubt they would be as successful a unit if he were gone. Not sure the owner wants to blow the whole thing up. There has to be a way to just fix the defense, right?Unfortunately, I think we probably eek out two more wins for a 7-9 mediocre record which will give us another mid-range/poor draft pick and will probably keep Kubiak around another season.
Yea.. Hire Rod Marinelli...last year. We need somebody that isn't a Kubiak/Shanahan/Denver guy running that D.Haven't really heard many grumblings about Kubiak losing his job, even though he's a no-brainer for the hot seat. Demote Kubiak to OC so we don't have to eat his contract and bring in a defensive minded HC to focus on the D and general strategy.jackdubl said:Haven't really heard many grumblings about Kubiak losing his job, even though he's a no-brainer for the hot seat.
