Houston WR Situation (1 Viewer)

My vote is for Andre Davis. He's demonstrated he can break free and yesterday would have had at least 2 more catches and 100+ yds if not for holding penalties yesterday. Be interesting to see what happens with Jacoby Jones though...With the way Schaub is progressing, the Texans could end up with a pretty strong passing game.

My guess is that you will see some version of WR 2A,2B, and 2c. There won't be a clear number 2, but will have Walter, Jones and Davis each hinglighted various formation and special situations. The consistent number 2 option in the passing game will be Owen Daniels. The 2nd WR in houston will probably not be more than bye week/injury replacemnet type move in fantasy circles, but be better from a "real" NFL perspective.

I agree that we'll see all 3 of Walter, Andre Davis and Jacoby getting time. Andre Davis has really played himself into deserving playing time, but I think Walter had a pretty good game this week as well. I'd personally love to see Andre Davis across from AJ a lot and then Walter and Jacoby in the slot. But if they want to keep rotating them through and keep fresh legs on the field, I couldn't argue that strategy at all. Might mean we do some more 4 WR sets than we have previously.

This discussion should highlight that Matt Schaub is a great QB to own, and approaching everyweek starter status - he should get there with the return of Andre Johnson

I agree. The biggest limitation he's going to face is going to be the game situation and play calling. If Kubiak can run the ball all day he'll do it. As long as Dayne and Gado are the RBs I don't think that will happen. Also the defense has been getting exploited of late after having looked good the first couple of weeks. Less pressure by the D-line is exposing the secondary more, which isn't good when Faggins is your 2nd CB. Though the few plays Bennett was in there across from Dunta that I noticed, he seemed to do a decent job sticking with his guy.

Imagine another year in Houston with Carr as the QB. OL would be blamed for all the sacks, probable 1-4 record if that. AJ with 1 TD if lucky. Of course, AJ wouldn't be hurt because carr would never have thrown that pass. He would have been sacked.

Totally disagree with that. Yesterday the Texans played Miami who has the worst rush D in the NFL. Kubiac is playing a wack pack group of receivers. What do they do? Come out and pass right away. First 3 plays were passes. They wll pass, and with Shaub that is how they will win.

I believe that GregR was saying that if Kubiak feels comfortable with the running game, he will run the ball first versus what he did yesterday. In the first two games of the year with both Green and Andre Johnson healthy were closer to what Kubiak wants to do. Without looking it backup, I believe the Texans threw less than 30 passes ran around 35 times in both of those.

Correct coolnerd, that's what I was saying. Miami may have the worst rush D in the NFL, but the Texans mostly failed when they tried to run against them. The run game wasn't working and so they had to turn to the pass. But if the run HAD been working I think they'd have stuck with it. I think most games with only Dayne and Gado in there they will be a poor to average rushing team and will have to pass. I think when Green comes back, we'll see the passes go down and the rushes go up.
