80" now. Will stick with this until at least 102"+ becomes reasonable.

My dream is to have almost the entire wall covered with a direct screen. I don't have the set up for a projection.

I've got houses in L.A., Paris and Vail. In each one, a 70 inch plasma screen. So I suggest you wipe that stupid smile off your face before I come over there and SMACK it off!

Have a 55" in my main room. I am looking to get a projector to replace my old, dying 42" in the basement. I am hoping to build a nice man cave so my house will be the destination for my teenage-approaching kids and their friends as they move towards high school.

Got a 55" in the living room, and a 75" in the family room, both Samsung LEDs. For live sports, they're both sick. But for movies, the 55 is actually superior to the 75. Still, the family room is kind of a movie theater / bar setup so it's where we spend most of our tv watching time. Plus ya know, 75.

TV's have a tuner and speakers. If the OP meant nothing hopefully

he would have listed it. I do not have a TV tuner either.

Monitors are going to replace TV's with the rise in cable/sat boxes

and sound bars/surround sound.

Size does matter!
You're right....the size of the debt people went into in order to get one of these silly "look at me" TVs does indeed matter.
You're required to finance televisions?
Considering the time people spend in front of it, I think that would be justified.

I think he meant credit card. $500 on a one time purchase isn't the big deal.

Monthly cable and phone fees are nuts but it's what "everybody" does.

So you want a nice TV to entice teens to enter your man cave, am I reading this right?

Absolutely. ;)

I suppose I should have said media room.

Give the kids a safe place to hang.

I find it amusing that this is something you are supposed to know from the top of your head. I forgot shortly after I bought it.

You know who else doesn't keep track of size?

Guys with small peckers.

If you're large and in charge you walk around telling everyone. If you're small, you tell people you "forgot"!!

I actually remember the day my dad brought home a 25 inch color console Magnavox. I was probably in kindergarten. Pretty sure we were the first ones in the neighborhood that moved off B&W. Of course most of the shows were still broadcast in B&W...

This was around the same time we moved from a party line telephone to a private line. And dad bought himself a Sting Ray.

:prosperity:

TVs are pretty cheap now. Sure, if you need the ultra elite newest one and 80+"", but I am pretty poor by FBG standards and even I could afford the few hundred bucks for a tv without going into debt.
All depends when you buy things. Early adopter paid $6000 for a 50" TV and now you can get one for under $400. Not too long ago I saw a 65" for $800.

That's the idea. My house growing up was the main hang out for my 'clique.' (80s, you know! :bag: ) My parents didn't care what was going on, and we were fairly decent kids, so they didn't have much to worry about. :bag:

46"

Don't feel the need to have a bigger TV and I think it would look a bit silly to have an enormous TV taking up the entire wall.
