The TV home announcers are broadcasting from the home ballpark like normal. The road team's and national announcers will broadcast from their home studios. At least in Cincy, when the Reds are away, the radio guys will call the games from GABP, but the TV guys will be in their studio, not at the ballpark. I think each team is like that, but some may vary the specifics. I'm not sure what the Blue Jays have chosen to do.
MLB has some pretty exhaustive rules about social distancing and who is allowed where in the ballparks, even for staff. They have set the staff into tiers, and limited the number of people allowed in each tier. I could break it down, but it doesn't really matter. Suffice to say, they are doing everything they can to minimize the chance people will get it. Sanitizing often. They have discouraged, though not prohibited showers at the ballpark. Every other urinal and shower head was removed or closed off to ensure social distancing in those area. Thousands of dollars spent on automatic paper towel dispensers and soap dispensers. dining area in the clubhouses are closed. There are about 200 people total in the ballpark when the games are happening, including both teams' players, coaches, and training staff. Considering the average ballpark is about 2 million square feet, I think there's room.
There is a lot more than this and every thing that you can think of that could help prevent the spread of it is being done. It is, as I said, exhaustive. I actually think it is a bit of overkill, but it makes sense to be as safe as possible, and MLB is doing that. Yeah, it makes my job a bit more challenging, but that's just the way it goes. We all wanted a baseball season to happen. Going in every day this summer without there being any games has been a real bummer. I'm glad its back, and I hope people can enjoy it.
