Eh - what do the Dogers care? They've plenty of money. And they will get 8 good to great years and pay over 12 years to get them. Cost of doing business with great players.

ETA: Dodgers have won 7 division titles in a row and have no World Series rings. He helps bring one and who cares? Flags fly forever.
Are we sure about that?  (cough.....Astros......cough)

And all without the benefit of banging on a trashcan to know what pitch is coming. Amazing!
Wait....what???

Are you seriously saying he’s never got the info on what pitch was coming for real or are you just trolling again?

@OldHossRadbourn: Opening Day. That sweetest of days. The crack of the bat. The sweet smell of grass. Fresh chalk lines. Young superstars testing positive for plague 6 hours before first pitch. Game time. I live for this.

Because every other sport is in a bubble and they aren’t (it’s insane the NFL is trying this without a bubble too).
Because other sports are basically only doing playoffs. Not sure players would agree to a bubble for regular season and playoffs in mlb and nfl.

Calling the game from the studio? Come on.
We are in a pandemic

Team announcers aren’t traveling with their teams either. They will call their home games from their stadium and the away games from there too I believe.

So the camera guys can travel to every game bit the two multi-millionaires can't travel. Got it

They’re needed to actually televise the game. If you don’t have to be there you aren’t going to be there. Again, pandemic and all. May have heard of it.

I’m seven miles south of DC, and starting to get some thunder and lightning. Hope it stays south and the game goes on.

ETA: Wish denied.

The TV home announcers are broadcasting from the home ballpark like normal.  The road team's and national announcers will broadcast from their home studios.  At least in Cincy, when the Reds are away, the radio guys will call the games from GABP, but the TV guys will be in their studio, not at the ballpark.  I think each team is like that, but some may vary the specifics.  I'm not sure what the Blue Jays have chosen to do.

MLB has some pretty exhaustive rules about social distancing and who is allowed where in the ballparks, even for staff.  They have set the staff into tiers, and limited the number of people allowed in each tier.  I could break it down, but it doesn't really matter.  Suffice to say, they are doing everything they can to minimize the chance people will get it.  Sanitizing often.  They have discouraged, though not prohibited showers at the ballpark.  Every other urinal and shower head was removed or closed off to ensure social distancing in those area.  Thousands of dollars spent on automatic paper towel dispensers and soap dispensers.  dining area in the clubhouses are closed.  There are about 200 people total in the ballpark when the games are happening, including both teams' players, coaches, and training staff.  Considering the average ballpark is about 2 million square feet, I think there's room.

There is a lot more than this and every thing that you can think of that could help prevent the spread of it is being done.  It is, as I said, exhaustive.  I actually think it is a bit of overkill, but it makes sense to be as safe as possible, and MLB is doing that.  Yeah, it makes my job a bit more challenging, but that's just the way it goes.  We all wanted a baseball season to happen.  Going in every day this summer without there being any games has been a real bummer.   I'm glad its back, and I hope people can enjoy it.

It IS overkill.  The players have fist bumped, shoulder bumped, spat chew into each other's mouths, and made out on the bench.

SOME people in this thread must be livid.

Why aren't the Reds doing the fan cutouts?  Make it happen.

Also, the piped in noise I heard on the radio during the exhibition games this week was good, but needs more organ music, walkup music, etc.

Just kidding.  Angel's terrible. https://twitter.com/PitchingNinja/status/1286453351002132480/video/1
Dodgers on downstairs in front of cardboard cutouts. Pumped in noise.

Sure things are normal. Totes.

Angel Hernandez might have taken the worst lip-reading ###-kicking from Terry Francona ever one day. Anybody that could read lips read "You. #######. Suck." That's all he said. Walked out there and just blasted him personally and left. No, "bad call, Angel." No "that was a ####ty call." Just

You ####### suck.
