Does Soto end up being the best player who tests positive all season?

Place your bets.
Blackmon tested positive but he is back now.  I don't think Soto will be out long.  He isn't showing symptoms so I am sure he will be tested every day and be back as soon as he can.

You'd think they could find better "Fan clapping" to pipe in ... What was used during the NY vs. National game was :lmao:   .

Either find a better sound track, or nix it all together.

Why aren't the Reds doing the fan cutouts?  Make it happen.

Also, the piped in noise I heard on the radio during the exhibition games this week was good, but needs more organ music, walkup music, etc.
Met cutouts are $86- each.  Nats used MLB2K noise and it was so odd.  I'd rather a laugh track.

I think they got the sound from MLB the Show. I thought it sounded fine. Much rather that than empty stadiums.

I'm not sure why they decided not to do it here.  I do know that it would have been a nightmare for me.  I don't know HOW it would have, but I am 100% sure it would have.

They are going to be selling the home run balls.  I assume not the ones that are milestones, as they will give those to the player.

i still love how in this country we can’t find a CV test for regular folks and, if we do, results take 2 weeks, but mlb seems to have unlimited tests and resources with instant results.  follow the money.....

my daughter has been tested twice with next day results

I'm pretty excited. Gonna have the game on in the garage or the back patio tonight. A few cold ones and gonna grab some BBQ from one of the billion joints here in KC.

Neighbors will probably meander over like usual. Plenty of room to spread out.

Should be fun.

Braves have no catchers tonite due to Covid?  D'Arnaud and Flowers both out.  Maybe MLB can have a stadium catcher like hockey has a spare goaler in the stands.

Friend told me MLB has designated hitters, designated runners, designated fielders, this year.  Manfred announed the use of Pink Spaldings for innings 5 & 6 and aluminum bats.  Players can wear wasks, but they must be super hero type masks, with faux ears.  Mets are piping in the sound of Fred Wilpon coughing for 3 hours.

Hopefully Danny has a good outing.  I am just glad we have something meaningful to watch.

How is this any different than the fact that we have people that work 70 hours a week to put their kids through school, but these guys get paid millions for playing a game?

Once you realize that and see that fans pay tons of money for their sports, why would we be shocked when teams spend that money to get their season going?

Did you baseball fans love the product last night?  I'm sure something after having nothing for so long and it being opening day ratcheted up the excitement a bit but can the enthusiasm sustain for 60 games or so ( will you guys be excited still in game 37 or so)?

I'm just curious.  I'm not a baseball fan so it's probably not worth it for me to have an opinion.

Yankee fan here. I was pleased.

I’m a huge baseball fan though. I’d probably watch the Tigers play the Orioles on the moon as long as the game counts

Loved the Mets/Braves game today. Yes, I’m a Mets fan so the outcome helped. I didn’t watch the ESPN feed, not sure what it sounded like, but the Mets feed was very well done with the piped in fan noise-almost undetected at times, but a good noise floor as would be expected. The video directing was off- multiple times announcers were talking about the shift being put on, but tv didn’t show it.

Either way, great pitchers duel and I didn’t mind the lack of crowd. And yes, I jumped out of my seat in my living room when Cespedes went yard. #LFGM

The lack of fans in the stadium is definitely strange but it didn't affect my enjoyment at all.

The Mets never scoring runs for deGrom is what does that for me.

Mets booth is the best in the biz.

#Marlins broadcast is a ####### joke. They bring the GM on to brag about what a slambang job he's done and totally ignoring the game going on.

Total Shiite show

Yes. I will watch the whole season. ITs great. Baseball is great.

I'm watching the Cleveland-Kansas City game.  Good to watch some live sports even if there are some oddities.  Is the fake crowd noise being pumped into the stadium for players to hear or is it just being edited into the TV broadcast?  The cutout fans in the stands are pretty stupid.   There aren't that many of them...just a few on the first base side that are in the camera view when looking at the pitcher.  They seem to be practicing social distancing.  BLM and United for Change are painted on the mound.  Cleveland is wearing their road blues with "Cleveland" printed on them instead of the traditional home "Indians" to support the inevitable name change.
