How does Aaron Brooks change the Raiders' offense? (1 Viewer)

What changes do you foresee for the Oakland offense with Aaron Brooks now under the helm?

-Increase/Decrease in Oakland Raider wins (4 wins)?

-Increase/Decrease in Passing Yards (3,883 yds in 2005) ?

-Increase/Decrease in Passing TDs (21 TDs in 2005)?

-Increase/Decrease in Interceptions (14 INTs in 2005)?

-Increase/Decrease in Lamont Jordan receptions (70 rec in 2005)?

-Increase/Decrease in Moss/Porter receptions?

-Any other changes, such as the rushing game?

When Brooks gets nervous he completely locks onto a WR. Somehow Horn and Donte(to a lesser extent) catch it even though watching the game I can tell ya where the ball's going so the Ds gotta know. ( He got better at this with experience)If you ignore TDs, Horn and Moss had quite comparable catch/yards numbers for a few years there. It might be poor play by him but I'd bet being the WR he locks onto is exciting for the WR. I think Moss may remind us how awesome a talent he is again this year. Isn't that exactly what he wanted his whole career? Thinks he can outjump or outrun anyone? Well that theory will get tested

I don't see Brooks affecting the running game. Jordan had alot of catches so that might go down a little but that was probably expected anyway

The change he will have is the New Orleans curse. He'll take the Raiders to the playoffs in 2 years or so. Kerry Collins, Marc Bulger, Jake Delhomme, Bobby Hebert, all left New Orleans and lead their new teams to the playoffs.

I think Brooks is completely under rated. He only makes bad decisions when he is trying to make something out of nothing. The backwards pass was a once in a lifetime thing where he was trying to keep the play alive and screwed up.

Now take a look at these numbers:

1563/2771 19156 Yards 56.4 Comp % 120 Touchdowns 84 Int

4 Season with 3500+ yards 2 with 3800+ yards

With the exception of last year he also had 4 straight seasons with 20+ TD

That was with no Randy Moss. Add Moss, Porter, Lamont Jordan to is aresenal and I think he will be a solid QB next season on a team that will probably win 6 games

It's not like Joe Horn is anything to sneeze at. Lamont < Healthy Deuce (of course he didn't have a healthy Deuce last season either). Porter is still an enigma, much like Stallworth was, but with a little different set of variables. I'd have to give the nod to Oakland as far as offensive line at this point although I don't believe NO was a bad line at all. I think you get what you get with Aaron Brooks. Probably 20-25 touchdowns, a handful of rushes, and a the frustration of watching him yuck it up on the sidelines while his team loses.

Look beyond the numbers. Brooks is the king of garbage time. One year the offense didn't score a TD in the first quarter for the first 13-14 weeks. However, if you're down by 20 and need to pass on every down to rack up statistics--Brooks is your man. Brooks can't manage a game--can't perform under pressure and is prone to making boneheaded mistakes at the worst possible times.

For FF purposes king of garbage time is gold! The problem is if the defense keeps it close Brooks' stats take a dive.

Did the Raiders improve their D?

If Brooks plays as badly as he did last year, this question will turn into "How does Andrew Walter/Marques Tuiasosopo change the Raiders offense" by year's end.

:goodposting: very underrated..he performed admirably in N.O., when you consider that he had

a bonehead named Jim Haslett as a head coach, who was so good at coaching, he is now a defensive coordinator in St Louis and was replaced by the equally lousy coach named Sean Payton..

thats how bad things were for Brooks..

even Peyton Manning would fail under those circumstances..
