DFS noob here.

Fanduel has a $5M contest up now where the top 46,000 entries win prizes. Currently, only around 8,000 entries have been submitted. What happens if the contest doesn't get at least 46,000 entries? Everybody wins? Does the prize pool change?

It'll probably fill up by season start but I'm wondering what happens in this situation.

All of the contests in the lobby with the blue "G" beside it are guaranteed. So yes they will pay if it doesn't fill. That said, the one you are talking about is the Sunday Million and it will fill. Fanduel rarely has any decent overlays. They have it down to a science.

Pantherz is correct. If there is a "G" beside the contest, it falls under the definition of a "guaranteed prize pool" and, by law, they have to pay out that amount, no matter how many entries they get for that contest. If they do not accumulate enough entries to cover the payouts, that is known in the industry as 'overlay' and you should seek it out.

That said, the contest you're referring to will almost assuredly fill up, as it is FanDuel's most popular GPP.
