We have a written rule that says all trades for the week must be completed by 1 PM on Sundays.
We use MFL and know there is a way to turn off trading for a specific time period but we don’t use it. I’m not 100% sure why we don’t use it but I think it’s because it prevents guys from making trade offers during whatever time period ‘no trading’ is set. Well a lot of the guys come up with trade ideas while actually watching games on Sunday and might forget about making an offer if they can’t enter an offer until say after the Monday night game.
Last season we had an owner make a trade right before the start of a Sunday night game. The owner was trailing by a fairly small amount, his opponent didn’t have any more players going for the week. The trailing owner was only carrying one kicker on his roster and that kicker was on a bye. So he made a trade with someone that happened to be carrying 2 kickers one of which was about to play in the Sunday night game.
The kicker scored enough points to win the game for the owner that made the trade for him but because of the rule about trades for the week must be completed by 1 PM that owner didn’t get the win.
The rule was enforced as written so no big deal there and there were no hurt feelings or anything
We are reviewing rules for the upcoming season and this topic came up.
Some guys think we should keep the 1 PM deadline
Other think that they should be able to trade all day Sunday and use the players immediately if they want.
Do any of you play in leagues that trades like this would be allowed and the traded players can be used right away?
