How far does Delhomme stock drop if Smith is out? (1 Viewer)

I figured Delhomme would pass all over Atl with Smith but will he find same success without?

Hate to play an 80 percent Culpepper but without S. Smith Delhomme seems avg at best.

In years past I might have agreed but this may be the best group of CAR WR's I've ever seen. Even without their superstar Key is rock solid, Carter is said to have all the potential to break out according to those that know the CAR situation and while Colbert had a subpar year last year almost every report this summer has been positive. I'm bullish on the entire CAR offense this season because of their depth at WR/RB.

Colbert played hurt last season and had a much better rookie than sophomore year. He's looked much better this year so far and the likelihood that the Cats will have #3 and #4 WR's who can make a contribution outside of (the since retired) 87 year old ricky Proehl is pretty good. :D I'm liking it.

If Smith is out it damages Foster's worth more than Delhomme, though Delhomme will obviously still take a hit.

I do not see it damaging Foster at all. Teams will not stack the box with Smith out because Delhomme still has targets. It is not going to be like if Roy Williams was out and they stacked box on Kevin Jones because we all know Detroit has one option. I know Carolina has K. Johnson and couple other younger guys. I think Fosters value goes up.

Does Delhomme's stock drop if Smith is out?

Near-best receiver in the game can't go. A guy who excels in yards after the catch. Stretches the defense and draws attention away from other recievers, leaving them more open room to roam.

No, it doesn't diminish Delhomme's stock one bit if that receiver can't go. Of course not. Why in the world do you think it would?

Thanks..

Smith made 6 catches for 60 yards in the first game of 2004 before his season ending injury. Look at Delhomme's #'s for 2004 and 2005.

Year G GS Att Comp Pct Yards YPA Lg TD Int Tkld 20+ 40+ Rate

2004 16 16 533 310 58.2 3886 7.29 63 29 15 33/246 60 8 87.3

2005 16 16 435 262 60.2 3421 7.86 80 24 16 28/214 44 13 88.1

I'm not saying he's better without him but I wouldn't be too concerned. I'm starting him without hesitation.

I've got Delhomme and Bulger, I was planning on starting Delhomme since Mulger is playing Denver but whats the thoughts here?

He seemed to do fine without Steve Smith two years ago.
