How good is reggie bush really? (1 Viewer)

Los Gigantes

In an initial dynasty draft with a combined vet and rookie draft, where do you take him if you draft today? Who do you take him over?

He's this good.

Ok my friend, I am going to take that $10,684 bet. Reggie Bush is going to the Texans without a doubt. This is one of the worst mock drafts I have ever seen in my entire life. There is no possible way, that Reggie Bush is going to drop to 4. He is the most talented player to EVER come out of college. Thats right. EVER.
:lmao:

He's a question mark with a huge potential. As it is a dynasty draft, presumably for a new league, you have to look at him after the sure things.

Who are the sure things, with a few more years left?

Alexander, Tomlinson, Larry Johnson, Edgerrin James, Portis, Jordan...

Next: S. Jackson, Rudi Johnson, McGahee, McAlister...

I'd probably take him with the 7th pick.

But it's a gamble. If he is as good as some think he could be, you have a steal. If he's a bust, you'll be sucking wind in your league.

I say it's about as likely as this:
Okay, not meaning to intentially slander you directly, but you are absolutely wrong. You obviously have never seen him play. Kitna is an above average QB who had the unfortunate circumstance of playing for teams when they were terrible. Don't you think it's more than just a coincidence that he made the Pro Bowl when the Bengals stopped being completely terrible?

Kitna in Detroit puts the Lions in the playoffs, and more than top-10, he probably puts up top-5 fantasy QB numbers.
Actually the Reggie Bush comment might be a little more realistic.

Every time I hear this statement I am humored and amazed!
Reggie Bush was a guest on NFL Network last night, and they played excerpts fromprevious shows of Terrell Davis and Emmitt Smith gushing about Bush. They say he is definitely the best college player this year and prised hs running skills. They didn't say best EVER, but T. Davis and E. Smith are some really strong endorsements. My question is in a keeper league, would you take a risk on him and draft him high, knowing he might be THAT good? I have the number 1 pick in my keeper league this year and am considering drafting him. Most of the top backs are already taken and RBs like Tiki, Jordan, R. Brown and Cadillac are the top backs available. I might take Brown or Cadillac but not Tiki or Jordan as possible keepers. But with Bush available, depending on where he ends up and what his situation will be, I might take a chance on him becaus ehe might be THAT good. I'd rather draft him this year and have him become a bust than not draft him and be laughed at by my league mates (who I've known almost all my life) for not drafting him when I had a chance (assuming he does become a stud).

Not to hijack, but there is no way that McAlister is in the second tier of RBs in the category of "Sure things with a few more years left."Okay, back to Bush...

Value-wise, hope he's there in the late 2nd round. Two years ago I drafted Steven Jackson in a combined vet/rookie draft (see sig) only to be ridiculed. You'd be amazed how far some rookies fall when given a choice between a proven veteran and a rookie. Of course, Steven Jackson wasn't hyped up as much as Reggie Bush is, so you'll probably see a looney pick him in the 1st round. But I'd really only punt on him if he's there towards the latter end of the 2nd round (or middle 2nd if you believe the hype).

I haven't thought as highly of a player since I saw Marshall Faulk at San Diego State. IMHO, Bush is worth the risk. If he keeps doing what he has been doing, he will be a HOFer.

3nOUT, I have the same prediciment, but I am waiting on the sconed round before I'd draft a rookie. Since each team keeps two players, our second round is essentially players 30-40. I like Bush, but I have never seen a rookie contribute throughout their entire first season. Of course all this could change with preseason........

I have never seen a rookie contribute throughout their entire first season.
 Faulk had over 1,800 combined yards and 12 TDs his rookie year...Edge had over 2,100 combined yards and 17 TDs his rookie year...Moss had over 1,300 yards and 17 TDs his rookie year...Curtis Martin had over 1,700 combined yards and 15 TDs his rookie year...Ricky Watters had over 1,400 combined yards and 11 TDs his rookie year...

The question in my mind was whether Bush can be an every down back and see 20-25 touches per game. Seeing Bush weigh-in at the combine, he's ripped...not nearly as small as I thought he was. He's got to be at least as big as Warrick Dunn and Clinton Portis. Also, Terrell Davis commented that he was most impressed by Bush's ability to run between the tackles...TD said that he's amazed by the patience Bush shows as blocking developes and then Bush explodes when he sees the hole. Gil Brandt compared him to Tony Dorsett...that's pretty good company.

I stand corrected, but I must acknowledge that I wasn't into FFb that long ago. Point taken.

Terrell Davis 1,484 yards and 8 TDsEmmitt Smith 1,165 yards and 11 TDs

Jamal Lewis 1,660 yards and 6 TDs

when exactly did you start play Fantasy Football?

Looks like I'm in the minority here. I wouldn't take him until the 2nd round at the earliest, and I would only do that if I took an already proven RB in the 1st. Maybe I'm a bit too conservative compared to others, but regardless of how talented I think Bush is, I'm not willing to risk a 1st on him in an initial dynasty draft.

Maybe streamkeeper is only, like 7?

I think Bush is a potential super star but he will need a good supporting cast in my opinion. That isn't really a stretch because most guys, with the exception of Barry Sanders, have needed a good supporting cast.

I was beyond impressed wtith Bush's play this past season. I knew he was good, but not to this level. The only thing that would worry me is his durability but Warrick Dunn has done ok and they seem to be the same type of scat back. I think Bush is a Warrick Dunn without any weaknesses.

Bush is tough between the tackles despite what others may think.

He can get to the outside like no one I have ever seen.

If he gets in to open space, forget about it. You will not catch him from behind.

On kick returns, he could be the most deadly player ever. He has the same speed and agility of Dante hall but he is big enough to break a tackle if someone actually gets to him.

Take Dante Hall and Warrick Dunn and make one player out of them and you will get a guy almost as good as Bush.

I still dont think the Texans should take him though.........

I see a lot of comparisons to Dunn. According to the player profile here, Dunn is 5' 8", 180 lbs. Stats I keep seeing on Bush have him at 5' 11", 200 lbs. I don't see the comparison. How about Tiki. He's listed at 5' 10" and 195 lbs. Wouldn't this be a closer comparison as far as size goes?

He's another guy who everyone said would not be a three down back, too small, etc. He's been working out pretty well for the Giants.
