I guess, physically, it can be done. But the mental/psychological toll it'd take would be terrible. It's a slow form of suicide.

You would need to eat 5,500 - 6,000 calories which is not an easy feat.  I'm trying to put on weight (ectomorph) and can tell you it's not easy to consume 3,000 calories, let alone 6,000 calories.

Yeah...I should have clarified.  3K is tough for people that don't eat ####.

At some point though your metabolism and hormone levels are going to go nuts. I'm not sure you can just say... 3,500 calories = 1 pound, therefore x days and months.

Our bodies aren't simple machines. They are also chemical ones, with efficiencies, deficiencies and massive changes.

I think 9-12 months would be doable for a large majority of people.  Limited walking and lots of fast food, soda and beer will do it.  I think :oldunsure:

The problem is a large majority of people aren't 180lbs and haven't been below 200 in years to begin with.

Cool story here ...

A year ago, poker streamers Jaime and Matt Staples made a $150,000 bet that just paid off.

A high roller named Bill Perkins told the Staples brothers he'd pay them $150K if they weighed with one pound of each other's weight on one year. Seems simple, right? Only it wasn't: Jaime was 304 pounds and Matt weighed 134.

That is pretty cool.

But there are no editors at usatoday.com?

You could do this in 3 months easy. Using 3.500 calories per pound, you would need to eat 3,888 calories ON TOP of your maintenance calories, which are probably around 2,500. So call it 6,300 calories per day. That would suck, but it would be relatively easy. Pizza, ice cream, beer/soft drinks, and boom.
Not with my metabolism ...

I just burn those calories up ... mostly during sex.

Except one is healthy for you the other isn't...
Depends where you start.

Light weight dudes starting under 150 would usually be better off gaining the 2lbs. For a short time period. It's just that most adults in the developed world are not underweight.

I can gain 100 pounds in 2 months easy.  I am 6'3 207 right now and have proof.  I will take all bets at 2 to 1.  I gain 100, you bet 100, you lose 200.

I'm not saying you couldn't but you definitely shouldn't. Gaining that much fat, that fast will absolutely crush your liver.

I think there was a Simpsons episode about this.  Don't remember how long it took but it wasn't long. Of course, that's a cartoon so maybe not applicable here.

Playdoh is non-toxic, soooo...
