How Many Divisions? (1 Viewer)

In our 12 team league, we use one division. The top four teams go to the playoffs.

What do you guys do? With a 12 team league, do you use one division or two?

Thanks,

HH

Three divisions of 4. 6 teams go to the playoffs, the 3 division champs and 3 wildcard teams. Top 2 division winners get a bye week.

2 divisions.6 teams make playoffs

Divisional winners get first round bye.

Other 4 teams decided on by total record, then total points and then dice.

12 teams, with 3 Divisions of 4 teams each. 4 Teams make the Playoffs...each Division Winner plus the "best of the rest". No byes.

We also have a seperate Total Points contest so, even if you have a bad head-to-head record, you could win something within the points contest.

I never understood this, what does it add to league to make divisions? Just setup a random schedule and be done with it.

Someone invariably gets screwed each season because of some division standings. Either a good team gets doesn't get in because of a stacked division or a weak team wins a weaker division and gets in the playoffs that has no right getting in.

BTW-We use no divisions, and play double-headers each week. Top 6 teams make hte playoffs, top 2 get a bye.

It adds more of a rivalry. Like in the NFL.

It doesn't really though. In my two main leagues most guys don't really interact enough to get a rivalry going.

Having sucky owners doesn't invalidate the idea. But I'd rather one division than 3. I think.
