I don't know, but I find it hard to believe they'll get much above .500 with that pitching staff. 89 is absolute best case.

The fact that Tampa Bay with less salary on the whole roster than ARod alone is above them in the standings is fantastic.

1 more than Boston is all I care about.

ETA: If you put a gun to my head, I'll say 96, but that's only because it's the inverse of 69, and who doesn't love 69? :D :loco:

All I know is I wish I would have taken the under like everybody was sayin.
:popcorn:hope you slammed that cubbies bet at least.
Backed off on the Yankees because it dropped and the juice was quite high.Didn't hit the Cubs...was close.Last year, I played 4 teams (went 2 - 2) and it is so hard to go 4 - 0. Figured playing 2 teams gave me the better shot at a big payoff.I posted my final picks in that thread, btw. They were/are the Brewers and the D-backs so I'm happy so far...got excellent lines/value on those two.

89

79-59 the rest of the way sounds about right to me.

(.572 Baseball or a 92-win clip the rest of hte way)

Factors in my vote:

POSITIVES:

1) Yanks have a sick offense that can overcome even mediocre pitching

2) Pettite is reliable as they come and should be good for 16 Wins easily

3) The Yankees have tremendous resources to make a midseason deal

4) Arod crushing the ball

5) Jeter having a great season

6) Matsui coming back soon

7) Giambi taking good cuts at the plate

NEGATIVES:

1) Bullpen already on fumes and it's May

2) Mussina been iffy and is just coming off the DL

3) Hughes shows promise then promptly lands on DL for 4-6 weeks

4) Karstens breaks leg.. out for a while

5) Damon battling chronic injuries and seriously struggling at plate

6) Wang with broken nail on pitching hand... will it continue to bother him?

7) Abreu not living up to expectations

8) Pavano could need TJ surgery now (complaints of elbow pain ended last side session early)

I will accept a wager with any Yankees fan. Even odds, Over / Under of 93 wins. I take the under. Any dollar amount up to and including a hundy

Id rather wager playoffs than win totals
You think they can make the playoffs with less than 93 wins?
I honestly have no clue. The only teams that will compete with them for the WC are in the Central and they might beat eachother up.

I really don't think the Yankees will win 93 with their pitching problems (which I mentioned two weeks ago and was met with jeers) but if they do, that'll probably get them in. Central winner wins no more than 93 according to my scientific analysis (won't get into it) but two other teams in the Central are likely to win at least 89. I'm guessing the second place team wins 91. That is how many the Yankees have to win.
