Ahhh yes,the money's good but more important for me is the game. It's all about winning. I'm so fanatical about FF that I play in numerous free leagues every year in addition to my money leagues. It is truly a wonderful hobby,IMO, and I'll be active in fantasy football as long as I'm breathing. I'd imagine it's pretty attainable for people that play in alot of leagues for many years.Personally, I only play in one money league. I've won it 3 times since 2004.i callon those who say they won 10+
i have been playing FF for 11 years, played in 30 to 40 $ leagues. won it all 3 times. just cannot believe it unless someone has played in like 100+ leagues over the years. just to much luckI'd imagine it's pretty attainable for people that play in alot of leagues for many years.Personally, I only play in one money league. Why?I've won 10 (or 9 depending on how you count it) in just the last 3 years with guys from this board, including 5 last year, so why would you think it'd be BS for guys to have 10+ for a lifetime (I've been playing FF since 1981)? You were in a couple MOX leagues with me, so you know it's made up primarily of FBGs, as are the others listed below.Titles in last 3 years:MOX I (2008, 2007, 2006)MOX III (2008, 2007)Red Zone FFL (2008)AAFL (2008)HyperActive 3 (2008 -- 12 team conference champ, does that count?)HyperActive 1 (2007 -- 24 team superleague champ)MOX VII (2006)I don't know how many championships in total since I began, counting local leagues. Probably about 1 title per 3 or 4 league years.fsufan said:i callon those who say they won 10+
Its really not that far fetched. I have played in the same 2 $100/team leagues for the last 12 years. I have won each 3 times giving 6 money league wins. As you can see, there are guys that play in numerous $20-$50 leagues each year. You play in 6-8 leagues a year over a 10 year period you can get to 10 plus wins pretty quick. Guys have the tendency to draft similar players in multiple leagues, they may say they don't, but if you are high on ceretain guys you gravitate to them in multiple drafts. A couple of good drafts and you can win two or three leagues in one year. Some freak examples that won some people some money.Colston as a TE one year.Julius Jones off the WW his rookie year coming off injury was huge about 4 years ago.(inside info here at FFguys got me the win with him)Kurt Warner out of nowhere during their SB run.Tom Brady in multiple leagues his record setting season.Baltimores Defense one year damn near beat teams single handedly. these are just a few examples I can think of that were players that put up monster numbers during a season that would have made a big difference for a guy who had them in multiple leagues to go along with their top picks.I must admit, the internet has made winning alot harder the last several years. I miss the days of guys showing up at the draft with a 12 pack and a magazine they bought on their way to the draft with their 12 pack. Nobody is drafting guys who announced their retierment a week before the draft anymore. (Kevin Butler (K) for the bears one year in the 5th round) the good old days of FF.fsufan said:i callon those who say they won 10+
ive been playing ff for over 10 years. 5 of those years I had 14 leaguesfsufan said:i callon those who say they won 10+
It's a bigger achievement to make the playoffs consistently and never win the title, than it is to win it all a few times and don't make the playoffs most years. More skill is involved in getting to the playoffs and more luck is involved in winning it all.

Hey, I would like to believe it, but no... I won one championship (among 7 straight playoff appearances in my main league) and it was glorious. My "other" 1-2 leagues per year, lower priorities, have yielded no trophies.I'd like to get into another competitive league but I don't know where to look. Is any site particularly good for me to join a random league on? Anyone here need a recruit? Doesn't have to be for money. It's a bigger achievement to make the playoffs consistently and never win the title, than it is to win it all a few times and don't make the playoffs most years. phenomsff.com is run by Unlucky from here and heavily populated by FBG people.I'd like to get into another competitive league but I don't know where to look. Is any site particularly good for me to join a random league on? Anyone here need a recruit? Doesn't have to be for money.
Why? If someone has played in 5 or more leagues for 15+ years...that's more then do-able.I put down 7, but I'm not positive on that number. Been playing for a long time (15+ years), but for the first 10 years or so only in 1 or two leagues. Definitely win more then my share, and in the last few years have had over an 80% playoff rate with 2 or 3 championships.fsufan said:i callon those who say they won 10+
Assume for a second that there must be more to it then luck, and realize every league has several players in it claiming bad luck when the truth is they simply suck, and it's surely no stretch that a good player could up his winning % into the 25% range.i have been playing FF for 11 years, played in 30 to 40 $ leagues. won it all 3 times. just cannot believe it unless someone has played in like 100+ leagues over the years. just to much luckI'd imagine it's pretty attainable for people that play in alot of leagues for many years.Personally, I only play in one money league. You guys are both right, it is hard to consistently make the playoffs every year especially when you have all savy owners in your league. In my main league I've made the playoffs 6 years in a row now and have lost 4 superbowlsIt's a bigger achievement to make the playoffs consistently and never win the title, than it is to win it all a few times and don't make the playoffs most years. . In the end its all about the championships, no one cares how many times you finished 2nd.Omega is a lot of fun (tournament format). Been awhile since I made it past week 11, though.Excellent, thanks! I signed up and I think I'll go with BETA 10.
And, if you're on Facebook, he added a Fan Page.I agree it's about the competition. But without money, I find the competition lacking. Too many owner's that aren't serious. That's why I've given up my work league and my online free leagues. The only one I continue to play in is my original big money league ($150). I've been playing in this league since 1993. I sucked at first but have made the playoffs every year for the last 6-7 years now and usually finish 2nd or 3rd. Still only one championship though. I guess that's not far from average for 18 years in a 14 team league.Andy Herron said:Much like Ghost of Bill Walsh, I've also been playing since the late 80's (can't recall exactly what year).
In addition, I also can't recall exactly how many money leagues I've won either honestly, but it has been several.
I also agree that I get as much satisfaction out of "winning" as I do the money. It's all about the competition to me.
I have had a different experience. It has not matter the amount, but who was allowed in the league. In a $150 league, I have seen guys quit because they got off to a bad start versus in a free league see an an owner who has had bad teams for multiple years set his best line-up week after wek even when he goes from rookie pick 1 to rookie pick 5. for me it is the who not the amount.BTW, I separate between yahoo, espn, nfl etc "free" leagues versus low cost (site fee) leagues with experienced players.I agree it's about the competition. Not free. Both leagues I play in are under $100, but still money leagues.Define money league. For me, anything under $100 is fun.
