Yes, I'm making the assumption that the Chargers > Ravens and the Jets > Chiefs for the simplicity of the poll.

Anyway. Discuss.

*Note: This is not meant to discredit the Colt victory in any way, shape, or form*

Colts, Pats, Chargers, Ravens. Bears would have beaten the Jets/Chiefs.

Colts

Patriots

Ravens

Chargers

----------

Jaguars

Steelers

Bengals

All of them are better teams than the Bears.

Chicago is on a par with KC, NYJ, & Denver in the AFC.

In hindsight I should've just made the poll options a # and then people could post which teams they though would win.

Oh well.

Since Chiefs but no Jets was not an option, I voted for the (most popular) choice of top 4.

I wonder what the results would be if you took off the names (and left the number of teams) and expanded it to include the non-playoff teams.

I missed the "I don't know and neither do you" option.
Good point :fishing: . We should totally ban speculation from the forums.
I disagree. I would guess that we also disagree what types of speculation are fruitful and which ones are a waste of time. Feel free to speculate away. You're entitled to your opinion. I hope you would agree that I'm also entitled to mine.

Of course. That's what make these forums great.

Hmm, they shut out the Jets.
Tight game until 1 CB fell..... AND it happened to be a game where Rex played well enough not to lose... The next week in NE he gave it up nicely with FOUR turnovers, pretty much Rex style, unforced.Jets played ok in that game but, stepped up their game since then and didn't have major injuries while the Bears took some injury hits.I never thought the Jets were a SB team last year but, matched up with Chicago in the big game, I think it would be close.

I think the most common answer is Colts/Chargers/Pats/Ravens ... but people may be underestimating what Manning is capable of. It wasn't a fluke that they kept the Bears offense off the field all game, and that Bears D is definitely not bad. There's a reason why Manning is considered by many to be one of the greatest as his position and he proved it on Sunday. I think the Colts & Chargers would have been most likely to win, but IMO people who mention several other teams beyond those two are wrong.

Manning played great, don't get me wrong, but the Bears also had their chances. The reason the Colt offense was on the field had a lot to do with Manning keeping them there, but also a lot with Grossman not being able to stay on the field when they had their chances. Also, let's not forget that Manning did not have a great first half - both teams played pretty sloppy with the fumbles and whatnot. I don't want to get into the *IF* game, but if the game never really felt as close as the score reflected. I mean, Manning's performance and Chicago's defensive faults aside, the Chicago D still handed their offense the ball with 12 minutes left only down by 5 - and Grossman proceeds to throw a INT that gets returned for a back-breaking TD. I think what Manning did that was impressive to me on Sunday was that he remained patient and didn't try and carry the team on his shoulders - even when the Colts went down 7-0 immediately, Manning played calm and didn't look like he thought he had to score every possession to win the game. That was, undoubtedly, partially due to his confidence in his resurrected defense Vs. a completely inept Chicago offense......but the point is, the things that Manning did, staying cool in the pocket and taking what the Bears defense was giving him is what Brady's bread & butter in the playoffs throughout his career.I'm not looking to start another Brady Vs. Manning - there are plenty of threads for that right now, but what I'm saying is that even if you believe Manning > Brady, that doesn't mean that Brady isn't good enough to still beat that team. Obviously Brady didn't get the chance to beacause they lost the week before - but within the realm of this poll I disagree that Manning played so well that no other QB other than the "best at his position" would've been able to win. Also - I only included the Jets and the Chiefs because they made the playoffs. Personally my answer was the Colts, Chargers, and Patriots. I'm not convinced that Baltimore would've won that game because they could have been just as offensively inept as the Bears.

I wasnt impressed actually at first. Manning looked like he had already lost the game after the return. Whats more, he proceeded to throw an INT and Fumble on consecutive drives. He had choke written all over him but luckily his Defense and the bears lack of Offense bailed him out.

After that he regained some composure and looked better as his team played better, hes a reflection of his situation, pure and simple.

Oh yeah and he posts super great numbers in the regular season.

That makes sense ... I guess I didn't include the Pats because I thought it was a bout 50/50 with them. I know they beat the Bears earlier in the year, but that was also Rex at his worst, and the game was still close. I thought the Colts & Chargers were more likely to beat the Bears than lose, and the Pats & Ravens were both a toss up. I'd give the Bears a slight edge over the other teams in the AFC.

i voted Colts, Pats, Chargers

the way the Ravens played against the colts there is no way they would have beaten the Bears

there offense was bad for 3 quarters and the defense gave up a bunhc of plays
